Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is a lifesaving treatment for critically ill patients in cardiac or respiratory failure refractory to conventional treatment. Patients on an ECMO circuit (pump, oxygenator, tubing) require numerous medications including sedatives, analgesics, cardioactive medications, and anticonvulsants. Currently, there are few dosing guidelines to optimize pharmacotherapy in this situation.

This systematic review was conducted to evaluate the optimal weight scalar to dose sugammadex in a morbidly obese (MO) patient population (BMI≥40 kg/m). The primary outcome was recovery time from moderate neuromuscular blockade (NMB) or deep NMB. Secondary outcomes included time to extubation and incidence of postoperative residual curarization (PORC).

Background: We aimed to identify care processes and structures that were independently associated with higher medication adherence among young transplant recipients.

Methods: We conducted a prospective, observational cohort study of 270 prevalent kidney, liver, and heart transplant recipients 14-25 years old. Patients were ≥3 months post-transplant, ≥2 months post-discharge, and followed in one of 14 pediatric or 14 adult transplant programs in Canada.
