Background: Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is the most common acute leukemia in adults and accompanies a worse survival. In this study, gene expression levels of 5 key players of apoptosis, including DR4, DR5, FAS, caspase 8, and DNA damage-induced apoptosis suppressor (DDIAS), have been evaluated in AML patients compared with controls, aiming to evaluate their possible role and prognostic impact.
Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in the Cancer Molecular Pathology Research Center, Mashhad University of Medical Sciences.

This tumor is typically found in the adrenal glands; however, it has been detected outside the adrenal glands in rare cases. We report an extremely rare case of myelolipoma in the lumbar spine causing significant neural compression due to the involvement of the posterior spinal elements.

The leading histopathologic characteristics of PVAN is viral cytopathic effects, such as nucleomegaly with smudged or clumped chromatin and intranuclear ground-glass inclusion, mostly in tubular epithelial cells. Moreover, tubular necrosis, tubulitis, interstitial inflammation, atrophy, and fibrosis have been noted.

We report a 38-year-old immunocompetent woman with intramedullary and intracranial tuberculomas with concurrent tuberculous spondylitis and meningitis, who presented with paraparesis and back pain. Despite initial antituberculous therapy, the patient's neurologic status deteriorated with the development of paraplegia.
