Purpose: The SORG-MLA was developed to predict 90-day and 1-year postoperative survival in patients with spinal metastatic disease who underwent surgery between 2000 and 2016. Due to the constant changes in treatment methods, it is essential to perform temporal validation with a recent patient population. In people with cystic fibrosis (CF), chronic inflammation and infection increase the risk for low bone mineral density and CF-related bone disease. During acute pulmonary exacerbations (APE), people with CF have increases in markers of bone resorption. Vitamin D has been proposed as a potential nutrient to lower inflammation.

Background: Individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) have difficulty maintaining optimal vitamin D status due to pancreatic insufficiency-induced malabsorption, inadequate sunlight exposure, and poor intake of vitamin D containing foods. Vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of pulmonary exacerbations of CF. The objective of this study was to assess factors impacting vitamin D status in patients with CF recently hospitalized for a pulmonary exacerbation of CF.
