Article Synopsis
  • * By introducing codoping with manganese ions in a zinc aluminum oxide (ZnAlO) matrix with holmium (Ho) and ytterbium (Yb), researchers enhanced the luminescence properties, achieving a strong red emission necessary for improved bioimaging sensitivity.
  • * The findings also revealed significant increases in temperature sensitivity for thermal measurements and established a color-tunable luminescence system that aids in temperature estimation, demonstrating the potential of these materials for cryogenic optical thermometry.

Article Synopsis
  • Lightweight and flexible gas sensors are crucial for quickly detecting toxic gases to prevent accidents from leaks.
  • A carbon nanotube (CNT) aerogel gas sensor was developed, using a unique fabrication method, which showed great sensitivity for detecting harmful gases like NO and methanol.
  • The sensor maintained performance even after bending and crumpling, with its sensing characteristics changing based on the heat treatment, indicating a switch from p-type to n-type semiconductor behavior.

Developing cost-effective and earth-abundant noble-metal-free electrocatalysts is imperative for the imminent electrochemical society. Two-dimensional TiCT (MXene) exhibits tunable properties with high electrical conductivity and a large specific surface area, which improve its electrochemical performance. Herein, the low-temperature annealing method is used to enrich MXene with a maximum number of Ti-O terminals without formation of titanium dioxide (TiO) under neutral pH conditions.
