Tissue engineering plays a pivotal role in the advancement of regenerative medicine. Thermoresponsive culture dishes, coated with specialized polymers that control cell adhesion through temperature fluctuations, enable the processing of cells into sheets for medical applications while maintaining their intact state. Cell sheets prepared using these culture dishes have been incorporated into several commercial pharmaceutical products.

Although these cells together play a crucial role in bone remodeling, only a few reports are available on the common factors involved in the differentiation of the two types of cells. Here, we show family with sequence similarity 102 member A (Fam102a) as a bone-remodeling factor that positively regulates both osteoclast and osteoblast differentiation.

Methods: The derivation cohort was obtained from a comprehensive systematic review and meta-analysis. The clinically significant risk factors were identified and combined with their corresponding odds ratios to establish a risk assessment model.
Periodontitis, which is induced by repeated bacterial invasion and the ensuing immune reactions that follow, is the leading cause of tooth loss. Periodontal tissue is comprised of four different components, each with potential role in pathogenesis, however, most studies on immune responses focus on gingival tissue. Here, we present a modified ligature-induced periodontitis model in male mice to analyze the pathogenesis, which captures the complexity of periodontal tissue.

Generally, the prevalence of periodontitis is higher in patients with COPD than those without COPD, which may partly be attributed to common risk factors in COPD, such as smoking, respiratory infections, and inflammation. In particular, periodontitis may exacerbate the progression of COPD and further deteriorate the respiratory system by promoting inflammatory responses and bacterial infections.

Diet not only influences nutritional intake but also interacts with the composition and function of the gut microbiota. Homemade blenderized tube feeding has been administered to children receiving enteral nutrition, in addition to ready-made tube feeding.

To date, 12 cases of SPNs with a primary ovarian origin (SPN-Os) have been reported globally, and their detailed characteristics have not been fully elucidated.
Case Description: We reported the 13th SPN-O case, which occurred in a 52-year-old woman with an 18.
Precise forecasting of survival risk plays a pivotal role in comprehending and predicting the prognosis of patients afflicted with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC). The existing methods have the problems of insufficient fitting ability and poor interpretability. To address this issue, this work proposes a novel interpretable survival risk prediction method for ESCC patients based on extreme gradient boosting improved by whale optimization algorithm (WOA-XGBoost) and shapley additive explanations (SHAP).

Periodontal disease is a risk factor for many systemic diseases including adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as preterm birth and low birth weight. In addition, the administration of the periodontopathic bacterium exacerbates obesity, glucose tolerance, and hepatic steatosis and alters endocrine function in the brown adipose tissue (BAT).

In the last decade, a new murine model of periodontitis has been widely used to simulate alveolar bone resorption and periodontal soft tissue destruction by ligation. Typically, 3-0 to 9-0 silks are selected for ligation around the molars in mice, and significant bone loss and inflammatory infiltration are observed within a week.

Two hundred and forty-two (242) volumes of CBCT scans were included in this study. The distances from the lower border of the anastomosis canal to the sinus floor and from the maxillary alveolar crest to the sinus floor were evaluated in transversal plane, and the thickness of the lateral sinus wall was measured at the distance of 3, 6, 9 mm from the sinus floor and at the level of the lower border of the canal at the same plane.
