Purpose: To investigate the incidence and ophthalmic complications of pediatric uveitis using the Korean National Health Insurance (NHI) Service database.
Design: Nationwide population-based longitudinal cohort study.
Methods: This study used the NHI database from 2005 to 2021 and included individuals <18 years of age diagnosed with uveitis on at least three separate visits between 2010-2014, with a five-year wash-out period and a seven-year follow-up period.
The SARS-CoV-2 pandemic necessitated effective vaccines that can endure antigenic mutations. Here we demonstrate highly immunogenic conjugate vaccines that elicit broad cross-neutralization to variants of concern (VOC) in animal studies. By utilizing protein-protein conjugation and Toll-Like Receptor (TLR) agonist adjuvants we achieve enhanced immunogenicity compared to unconjugated equivalents.

Evaluating HE in large datasets requires segmentation of hematomas on admission and follow-up CT scans, a process that is time-consuming and labor-intensive in large-scale studies. Automated segmentation of hematomas can expedite this process; however, cumulative errors from segmentation on admission and follow-up scans can hamper accurate HE classification.

Relatively few studies have looked at electronic health records (EHRs) data to understand utilization of integrative medicine services within "real-world" practice settings. This study's objective is to describe sociodemographic data and health care utilization for adults (age 18 or older) within a large regional health system from 2011 to 2022.

Given the rapid increase in antimicrobial resistance and the scarcity of new antibiotics, along with the absence of individual antibiogram testing in some countries, there is an urgent need for robust surveillance systems.
Objective: This study aimed to provide evidence for the surveillance of resistance, a crucial component in developing national UTI treatment guidelines and guiding empirical therapy decisions.
Large Language Models (LLMs) hold potential as clinical decision support tools, particularly when integrated with domain-specific knowledge. In radiology, there is limited research on LLMs for assessing imaging appropriateness. This study evaluates a contextualized GPT-4-based LLM's performance in assessing the appropriateness of musculoskeletal MRI scan requests with standard models and different versions of optimization.

We sought to identify how accurately machine learning (ML) radiomics models predict HE compared with expert clinicians using head computed tomography (HCT).
Methods: We used data from 900 study participants with ICH enrolled in the Antihypertensive Treatment of Acute Cerebral Hemorrhage 2 Study.
Introduction: Onychomycosis is a complex nail disease that is commonly seen in daily practice.
Methods: Electronic health records of clinically diagnosed onychomycosis patients were extracted using DataDerm - a dermatology data registry hosted by the American Academy of Dermatology - spanning from the year 2016 to 2022.
Results: Regardless of age, an increasing trend in patient volume was observed in the Southern US region, which accounted for 50.
This study focuses on the synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of the photocatalytic efficiency of bismuth-based metal-organic frameworks (Bi-MOFs) and their derivatives, specifically Ag/Bi-MOF and NH /Ag/Bi-MOF, in the degradation of tetracycline (TC) and sulfamethoxazole (SMX) under visible light irradiation. Bi-MOFs are promising photocatalysts due to their large surface area, tunable porosity, and unique electronic properties that are favorable for visible light absorption. In this study, Bi-MOFs were synthesized using a solvothermal method, with the incorporation of silver (Ag) and ammonium (NH ) ions to enhance their photocatalytic performance.

Even after the official downgrading of the COVID-19 pandemic, infection with SARS-CoV-2 variants continues. The rapid development and deployment of SARS-CoV-2 vaccines helped to mitigate the pandemic to a great extent.

The interaction between NP surfaces and plasma-resident biomolecules results in the formation of a biomolecular corona, which varies patient-to-patient and as a function of disease state. This study investigates how the progression of acute systemic inflammatory disease influences NP corona compositions and the corresponding effects on innate immune cell interactions, phenotypes, and cytokine responses.

Adversarial attacks involve subtle, voxel-level manipulations of scans to increase deep-learning models' prediction errors. Testing deep-learning model performance on examples of adversarial images provides a measure of robustness, and including adversarial images in the training set can improve the model's robustness.

Accurate segmentation and quantification of ICH and PHE can help with prognostication and guide treatment planning. In this study, we combined Swin-Unet Transformers with nnU-NETv2 convolutional network for segmentation of ICH and PHE on non-contrast head CTs.

: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a global health problem and the third leading contributor to mortality worldwide. This systematic review aims to summarize the results of previous studies tackling the question of the efficacy of long-term prophylaxis of antibiotics in COPD patients, with particular regard to exacerbation rate, time to first exacerbation, health status, airway bacterial load, inflammatory markers, cell counts in sputum samples, and potential adverse events. : Four studies found significant improvement in the exacerbation rate in patients receiving antibiotic intervention.

This study examines the associations between the NIH Toolbox Cognition Battery composite scores with neuroimaging metrics using data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study to elucidate the neurobiological and neuroanatomical correlates of these cognitive scores.
Methods: Neuroimaging data from 5290 children (mean age 9.
Molybdenum disulfide (MoS), a notable two-dimensional (2D) material, has attracted considerable interest for its potential applications in gas sensing, despite its typically insulating characteristics, which have limited its practical use. In this study, we present the use of mixed phase MoS (1T@2H-MoS) to overcome sensing limitations of MoS material by enhancing its conductivity and demonstrating its high-performance characteristics for sensing ammonia (NH) at room temperature (20 °C). The 1T@2H-MoS was synthesized a hydrothermal process, and the coexistence of two different phases (the 1T and 2H phases) was confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopy.

Methods: We extracted data of patients who visited the clinic and were diagnosed with uveitis (based on Korean Classification of Diseases) from 2010 to 2021. The incidence of uveitis, differences between the demographics, and the underlying co-morbidities of anterior uveitis, non-anterior uveitis, and control groups were investigated.
Laws of physics shape adaptations to locomotion, and semiaquatic habitats of water striders provide opportunities to explore adaptations to locomotion on water surface. The hydrodynamics of typical propelling with symmetrical strokes of midlegs is well understood, but the subsequent passive sliding on surface has not been explored. We hypothesized that morphological and behavioural adaptations to sliding vary by body size.

This study investigated parent's perceptions in response to common forms of front-of-pack food imagery on child-orientated snacks. An online experiment comprising four between-subjects food image conditions (no image; food photo; food cartoon; cartoon of children gardening) and two within-subjects snack type conditions (fruit; vegetable) was conducted with N = 800 Australian adult parents/guardians of children aged 4-10 years.
