Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices on Reproductive Health Among Abortion Adolescents in Vietnam.

Background: Adolescent pregnancy is a global issue. The majority of these adolescents experience unintended pregnancy ending in abortion. Knowledge gaps and misconceptions about reproductive health are the main reasons for unintended pregnancy among adolescents.

Splenic ectopic pregnancy: Rare location of ectopic pregnancy, how does it present?

Splenic ectopic pregnancy (SEP) is a rare high-mortality condition, particularly relating to life-threatening intraperitoneal bleeding due to a high risk of spontaneous rupture. Diagnosing in a timely fashion is extremely crucial and the patients could benefit from active treatment strategies and early management. In this article, we reviewed a case of 40 years-old female who complained of lower quadrant abdominal pain and amenorrhea with a history of intrauterine device (IUD) insertion for over 6 years.

Twin reversed arterial perfusion sequence-a rare and dangerous complication form of monochorionic twins: A case report.

Background: Twin reversed arterial perfusion (TRAP) sequence is an extremely rare congenital anomaly in monochorionic (MC) twins. The condition is characterized by a malformed fetus (acardiac twin) without cardiac activities being perfused by a structurally normal one (pump twin) an artery-to-artery anastomosis in a reverse direction.

Case Summary: We described the first case of TRAP to receive laser surgery in Vietnam.

Long-Term Follow-Up Of Anti-Mullerian Hormone Levels After Laparoscopic Endometrioma Cystectomy.

The study aims to evaluate long-term ovarian reserve change by serum anti-Mullerian hormone (AMH) level and determine the factors that affect the changes after laparoscopic endometrioma cystectomy. In a prospective longitudinal study, 104 patients with unilateral (n=77) and bilateral (n=27) endometrioma underwent laparoscopic endometrioma cystectomy. AMH levels were measured preoperatively and at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months postoperatively.

Fetoscopic Laser Ablation for the Selective Fetal Reduction in Twin-Twin Transfusion Syndrome Stage II-IV: The Experience of a New Fetal Medicine Center.

Objective: To evaluate the surgery outcomes of fetoscopic laser ablation (FLA) for selective umbilical cord in treating twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) with special conditions and neonatal outcomes post-operation.

Methods: A prospective study, 21 monochorionic diamniotic (MCDA) twins diagnosed with TTTS stage II-IV according to Quintero classification from 16 to 26 weeks of gestation, among that, 12 cases of TTTS stage II with selective intrauterine growth restriction (sIUGR), 6 cases of TTTS stage II with proximate cord insertions, 3 cases of TTTS stage IV underwent fetoscopic laser ablation for the selective fetal reduction at Hanoi Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital from September 2019 to July 2021. Complications and surgical outcomes were noted.

Dinoprostone Vaginal Insert for Induction of Labor in Women with Low-Risk Pregnancies: A Prospective Study.

Background: Induction of labor (IOL) is a technique to establish vaginal delivery when the risks for continuing the pregnancy for mother or baby are higher than the risks of delivery. It is usually performed in high-risk pregnancies, but can also be beneficial in low-risk populations, as shown in the ARRIVE trial.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of slow-release vaginal dinoprostone (prostaglandin E2 10 mg) for labor induction in women with low-risk pregnancies.

Retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy after fertilization: A case report of a patient with bilateral salpingectomy.

Retroperitoneal ectopic pregnancy (REP) is a rare obstetric condition caused by the mislocalization of the gestational mass. The unexpected location often results in missed or delayed diagnoses, which can complicate the treatment process. We report the case of a 34-year-old Asian woman who presented to the hospital 31 days after embryo transfer with mild vaginal bleeding.

Maternal vascular endothelial growth factor receptor and interleukin levels in pregnant women with twin-twin transfusion syndrome.

Twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS) is an unusual and serious condition that occurs in twin pregnancies when identical twins share a placenta but develop discordant amniotic fluid volumes. TTTS is associated with an increased risk of fetal death and birth defects if untreated. This study investigated the soluble levels of biomarkers including growth factors and interleukins in pregnant women with and without TTTS during pregnancy.

Surface third-harmonic generation at a two-photon-polymerized micro-interferometer for real-time on-chip refractive index monitoring.

A micro-interferometer based on surface third-harmonic generation (THG) at two-photon-polymerized SU-8 cuboids for real-time monitoring of the refractive index changes of target fluids, which can be easily integrated into microfluidic photonic systems, is demonstrated. The third-harmonic (TH) interferogram is selectively generated only from the target volume by a simple vertical pumping, thereby eliminating the needs for complicated coupling and alignments. The dependence of the generated TH to the input pump polarization state is thoroughly investigated.

Background: The newborn and child death associated with inadequate post-natal health checks continued to be a significant issue across the world. This study aimed to assess the socioeconomic inequalities in post-natal health checks for the newborn in Vietnam in 2014.

Methods: We used the secondary data from the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in 2014.

Amniocentesis test uptake for congenital defects: Decision of pregnant women in Vietnam.

Our study aimed to identify the knowledge, attitude, and factors associated with uptake of amniocentesis test amongst pregnant women of advanced maternal age (35+ years old). A cross-sectional survey was performed on 481 participants in 2016. Women with higher educational attainment, higher income level, having a baby with congenital defects, and women with better knowledge and/or attitude about amniocentesis test were more likely to accept the test.

Premarital sex, contraceptive use among unmarried women migrant workers in industrial parks in Vietnam, 2015.

Most of internal female migrants are young, at risk of unintended pregnancy, unsafe abortion. This paper aims to describe premarital sexual behaviors and contraceptive use among unmarried female migrant workers in industrial parks, Vietnam. A cross-sectional survey was completed with a sample of 2,996 workers aged 18-49 years.

Linkage between HIV diagnosis and care: Understanding the role of gender in a Northern Province in Vietnam.

Early linkage to HIV care is associated significantly with improved patient outcomes and reduced the risk of HIV transmission. However, delays between HIV diagnosis and registering for care have prevailed in Vietnam. The aim of researchers in this study is to examine linkages to care for individuals newly diagnosed with HIV in 2014, especially to highlight the impact of gender upon these linkages in a Northern Province of Ninh Binh.
