Durvalumab with or without bevacizumab with transarterial chemoembolisation in hepatocellular carcinoma (EMERALD-1): a multiregional, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study.

Background: Transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) is standard of care for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma that is amenable to embolisation; however, median progression-free survival is still approximately 7 months. We aimed to assess whether adding durvalumab, with or without bevacizumab, might improve progression-free survival.

Methods: In this multiregional, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study (EMERALD-1), adults aged 18 years or older with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma amenable to embolisation, an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 or 1 at enrolment, and at least one measurable intrahepatic lesion per modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) were enrolled at 157 medical sites including research centres and general and specialist hospitals in 18 countries.

Background: We aimed to describe nurses' perspectives on risk factors and strategies to control workplace violence.

Methods: To accomplish the study objectives, an online cross-sectional questionnaire-based investigation was conducted. The scales were developed in accordance with the guidelines provided by reputable organizations such as the International Labour Office (ILO), International Council of Nurses (ICN), WHO, and Public Services International (PSI), as well as previous scholarly works.

Difference in Precocious Puberty Between Pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 Periods: A Meta-Analysis.

We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to clarify the trend of precocious puberty (PP) incidence after the COVID-19 outbreak and explore potential contributing factors, such as age at presentation and body mass index standard deviation score (BMI SDS). Children visiting pediatric endocrinology clinics for the first time for suspected PP were included. We searched databases until February 28, 2023 for studies reporting various indicators of PP incidence before and during the pandemic.

Predictors of treatment failure following early antibiotic discontinuation in culture-negative, ventilator-associated pneumonia: an observational study.

Introduction: Early antibiotic discontinuation in clinically suspected ventilator-associated pneumonia (VAP) may lead to infection relapse/recurrence and increase mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence and potential predictors of treatment failure with this approach.

Methodology: A retrospective observational study was conducted between September 2014 and November 2016 in a mixed intensive care unit.

Single-port and multiport robot-assisted radical prostatectomy: A meta-analysis.

Objective: To compare the perioperative, oncological, and functional outcomes between single-port robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (SP-RARP) and multiport robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (MP-RARP) via a meta-analysis.

Methods: For relevant articles, three electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, were searched from their inception until January 15, 2022. A meta-analysis has been reported in line with PRISMA 2020 and AMSTAR Guidelines.

Electrocardiographic and genetic characteristics in first degree relatives of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy probands: A descriptive cross-sectional study from Vietnam.

Objectives: In order to study the phenotype-genotype relationship and to better understand the early consequences of the mutation, we would report the spectrum of electrocardiographic and genetic features in the relatives of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients.

Methods: Participants underwent a comprehensive clinical assessment, electrocardiography, standardized and echocardiography and genetic testing. In probands, next-generation sequencing was performed using the gene panel associated with HCM, while in relatives, Sanger sequencing was used to screen for mutations identified in their individual probands.

Diastolic dysfunction after repair for Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is associated with adverse long-term outcomes. Right atrial (RA) mechanics as a proxy of right ventricular (RV) diastolic function in the early post-operative period after surgical repair for TOF has not been reported. We sought to evaluate RA and RV strain prior to hospital discharge after TOF repair and to identify important patient factors associated with strain using a machine learning method.

Risk factors for cannula-associated arterial thrombosis following extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support: a retrospective study.

Background: Hemostatic dysfunction during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) due to blood-circuit interaction and the consequences of shear stress imposed by flow rates lead to rapid coagulation cascade and thrombus formation in the ECMO system and blood vessels. We aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors for cannula-associated arterial thrombosis (CaAT) post-decannulation.

Methods: A retrospective study of patients undergoing arterial cannula removal following ECMO was performed.

We compared serum biomarker profiles with clinical and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters of ventricular remodeling in patients with repaired TOF.

Violacein, a blue-violet compound with a wide range of beneficial bioactivities, is an attractive product for microbial production. Currently, violacein production has been demonstrated in several sugar heterotrophs through metabolic engineering; however, the cost of production remains an obstacle for business ventures. Novel findings from family-based exome sequencing for children with biliary atresia.

Biliary atresia (BA) is a progressive inflammation and fibrosis of the biliary tree characterized by the obstruction of bile flow, which results in liver failure, scarring and cirrhosis. This study aimed to explore the elusive aetiology of BA by conducting whole exome sequencing for 41 children with BA and their parents (35 trios, including 1 family with 2 BA-diagnosed children and 5 child-mother cases). We exclusively identified and validated a total of 28 variants (17 X-linked, 6 de novo and 5 homozygous) in 25 candidate genes from our BA cohort.

Income of informal labourers in rural areas: A survey dataset of northern mountainous regions in Vietnam.

This article introduces a dataset that presents not only the income of informal labourers in Vietnam's northern mountainous regions but also rural labourers' characteristics and the factors affecting rural labourers' income. The data collection was conducted in five provinces: Tuyen Quang, Quang Ninh, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, and Bac Giang. Farmers and labourers without labour contracts in rural regions are the target groups.
