Background: Transarterial chemoembolisation (TACE) is standard of care for patients with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma that is amenable to embolisation; however, median progression-free survival is still approximately 7 months. We aimed to assess whether adding durvalumab, with or without bevacizumab, might improve progression-free survival.
Methods: In this multiregional, randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study (EMERALD-1), adults aged 18 years or older with unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma amenable to embolisation, an Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group performance status of 0 or 1 at enrolment, and at least one measurable intrahepatic lesion per modified Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumours (RECIST) were enrolled at 157 medical sites including research centres and general and specialist hospitals in 18 countries.
Background: We aimed to describe nurses' perspectives on risk factors and strategies to control workplace violence.
Methods: To accomplish the study objectives, an online cross-sectional questionnaire-based investigation was conducted. The scales were developed in accordance with the guidelines provided by reputable organizations such as the International Labour Office (ILO), International Council of Nurses (ICN), WHO, and Public Services International (PSI), as well as previous scholarly works.
We conducted this systematic review and meta-analysis to clarify the trend of precocious puberty (PP) incidence after the COVID-19 outbreak and explore potential contributing factors, such as age at presentation and body mass index standard deviation score (BMI SDS). Children visiting pediatric endocrinology clinics for the first time for suspected PP were included. We searched databases until February 28, 2023 for studies reporting various indicators of PP incidence before and during the pandemic.

This study aimed to evaluate the incidence and potential predictors of treatment failure with this approach.
Methodology: A retrospective observational study was conducted between September 2014 and November 2016 in a mixed intensive care unit.
Objective: To compare the perioperative, oncological, and functional outcomes between single-port robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (SP-RARP) and multiport robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (MP-RARP) via a meta-analysis.
Methods: For relevant articles, three electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, and Web of Science, were searched from their inception until January 15, 2022. A meta-analysis has been reported in line with PRISMA 2020 and AMSTAR Guidelines.
Objectives: In order to study the phenotype-genotype relationship and to better understand the early consequences of the mutation, we would report the spectrum of electrocardiographic and genetic features in the relatives of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients.
Methods: Participants underwent a comprehensive clinical assessment, electrocardiography, standardized and echocardiography and genetic testing. In probands, next-generation sequencing was performed using the gene panel associated with HCM, while in relatives, Sanger sequencing was used to screen for mutations identified in their individual probands.
Background: Canada is emerging from the largest SARS-CoV-2 Omicron wave to date, with over 3.3 million confirmed cases. Unfortunately, PCR confirmed cases illuminate only a small portion of infections in the community and underestimate true disease burden.

Diastolic dysfunction after repair for Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) is associated with adverse long-term outcomes. Right atrial (RA) mechanics as a proxy of right ventricular (RV) diastolic function in the early post-operative period after surgical repair for TOF has not been reported. We sought to evaluate RA and RV strain prior to hospital discharge after TOF repair and to identify important patient factors associated with strain using a machine learning method.

We aimed to identify the incidence and risk factors for cannula-associated arterial thrombosis (CaAT) post-decannulation.
Methods: A retrospective study of patients undergoing arterial cannula removal following ECMO was performed.
Photocatalysts based on titanium dioxide (TiO) were widely applied to solve environmental problems such as water and air pollution treatment. Currently, the application of these compounds for food packaging is increasing. This study prepared silver (Ag) doped TiO photocatalyst (Ag/TiO) for the decomposition of gas ethylene (Eth), which is the main factor that causes fruits to over-ripen and damage or decay.

In this study, we aimed to assess the accuracy of the International Academy of Cytology (IAC) Yokohama system in a Vietnamese oncology centre.
Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted from November 2021 to April 2022 at Vietnam National Cancer Hospital.
In the last 3 years, almost all medical resources have been reserved for the screening and treatment of patients with coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Due to a shortage of medical staff and equipment, diagnosing sleep disorders, such as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), has become more difficult than ever. In addition to being diagnosed using polysomnography at a hospital, people seem to pay more attention to alternative at-home OSA detection solutions.

Various biosensors using the unique optical responses of SWNTs have been proposed by many research groups. Most of these employed either colloidal suspensions of dispersed SWNTs or SWNT films on flat surfaces, such as electrodes.

Although uncommon, has also been associated with wound infection and septic shock. These two manifestations have not been well-reported in medical literature, yet may yield a high risk of death, thus requiring emergent interventions.

Associations between biomarkers and clinical parameters in tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) has been understudied. We compared serum biomarker profiles with clinical and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) parameters of ventricular remodeling in patients with repaired TOF.

Currently, violacein production has been demonstrated in several sugar heterotrophs through metabolic engineering; however, the cost of production remains an obstacle for business ventures. To address this issue, the development of host strains that can utilize inexpensive alternative substrates to reduce production costs would enable the commercialization of violacein.

Two-dimensional nanomaterials offer highly accessible surface areas but for real-world applications their assembly into well-defined hierarchical mesostructures is essential.

This study aimed to explore the elusive aetiology of BA by conducting whole exome sequencing for 41 children with BA and their parents (35 trios, including 1 family with 2 BA-diagnosed children and 5 child-mother cases). We exclusively identified and validated a total of 28 variants (17 X-linked, 6 de novo and 5 homozygous) in 25 candidate genes from our BA cohort.
