Recently, there has been significant progress in automatic pain assessment based on facial expression analysis. However, the performance of pain assessment remains unsatisfactory, due to a lack of analysis on local pain-related action units and emotional ambiguity. In particular, ambiguous pain expressions complicate the estimation of pain.

Onychomycosis, predominantly induced by Trichophyton rubrum, is a pervasive nail disorder within dermatology known for its high relapse rates and suboptimal patient adherence to treatment regimens. While photomedicine has emerged as a promising therapeutic modality, efficiency reductions are common due to deck obstruction in conventional light therapy. The spectral flexibility of LEDs offers a compelling solution, allowing for deeper deck penetration while maintaining efficacy.

Photobiomodulation (PBM) has gained attention as a kind of anti-pain or anti-inflammation therapy, yet its efficacy in mitigating the symptoms and underlying metabolic disturbances of primary dysmenorrhea remains underexplored. Here, 630 nm light reduced menstrual pain and prostaglandin F/prostaglandin E dysregulation, regulated oxidation and lipid peroxidation levels, and improved uterus damage in oxytocin-induced mice. Notably, pulsed wave (PW) treatment exhibited superior efficacy compared to continuous wave application.

Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is a prevalent hair loss disorder and influenced by genetic, hormonal, and environmental factors. Minoxidil and finasteride have been widely used for treating AGA. However, the side effects associated with these drugs often lead to poor patient compliance.

Previous underwater imaging methods have not developed a clear idea of estimating the degree of polarization of target light (Pobj). To address this issue, this Letter answers the question of how the estimation result of Pobj affects clear imaging. First, the theoretical derivation states that Pobj is simply a scale modulation factor of the imaging result.

Photobiomodulation therapy, as an emerging treatment modality, has been widely used in dentistry. However, reports on blue light therapy for oral cancer are scarce. This study investigated the effects of 457 and 475 nm LED irradiation on SCC-25 cells and explored the potential mechanisms underlying the impact of blue light.

The therapeutic potential of blue light photobiomodulation in cancer treatment, particularly in inhibiting cell proliferation and promoting cell death, has attracted significant interest. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is a prevalent form of oral cancer, necessitating innovative treatment approaches to improve patient outcomes. In this study, we investigated the effects of 420 nm blue LED light on OSCC and explored the underlying mechanisms.

Confocal Raman microscopy (CRM) has found applications in many fields as a consequence of being able to measure molecular fingerprints and characterize samples without the need to employ labelling methods. However, limited spatial resolution has limited its application when identification of sub-micron features in materials is important. Here, we propose a differential correlation-confocal Raman microscopy (DCCRM) method to address this.

Lithium (Li), as the lightest metal and the most important powerful material in battery fabrication, is widely used in many fields. The fast detection of Li is necessary for industrial application. The slow-speed detection methods, including atomic absorption spectroscopy and inductively coupled plasma mass spectroscopy with high accuracy and low limit of detection, are hard to utilize in in situ industrial control due to complex prepreparation of samples.
