Newborn hearing screening: analysis and outcomes after 100,000 births in Upper-Normandy French region.

Objectives: Neonatal hearing impairment is a common disorder with a prevalence of 1 to 2‰ worldwide, with significant consequences on overall development when rehabilitated too late. New-born hearing screening has been implemented in the 1990s in most European countries and the USA. The Upper-Normandy region of France has been conducting a pilot program since 1999.

Vagal paraganglioma of the neck: a case report.

Vagal paragangliomas are rare in the head and neck. Complementary use of computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging can facilitate the diagnosis and help determine the best management approach. Most paragangliomas should be treated with surgery.

Restoration of diaphragmatic function after diaphragm reinnervation by inferior laryngeal nerve; experimental study in rabbits.

Objectives: To assess the possibilities of reinnervation in a paralyzed hemidiaphragm via an anastomosis between phrenic nerve and inferior laryngeal nerve in rabbits. Reinnervation of a paralyzed diaphragm could be an alternative to treat patients with ventilatory insufficiency due to upper cervical spine injuries.
