Background: Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) predominantly affects males across all ages; however, little is known about sex differences for other aspects of EoE.
Objective: To investigate associations between sex and clinical presentation, endoscopic features, treatment choice and response in EoE patients in real-world practice.
Methods: Cross-sectional analysis of the multicenter EoE CONNECT registry.
Introduction And Objectives: We report the results of the 2023 Spanish catheter ablation registry.
Methods: Procedural data were collected and incorporated into the REDCap platform by all participating centers through a specific form.
Results: There were 104 participating centers in 2023 compared with 103 in 2022.
Background: Several dietary approaches have been used to induce remission in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE), yielding varied results.
Methods: We searched the MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Scopus databases up to May 2024 to identify studies including dietary interventions for EoE used as monotherapy. Summary estimates with 95% CIs for achieving <15 eosinophils/HPF were calculated for each approach.
This study compared short-term effectiveness of proton pump inhibitors (PPI), swallowed topical corticosteroids (STC), and dietary therapies in reversing clinical and histological features in pediatric patients with eosinophilic esophagitits (EoE). Determinants for treatment choice and PPI therapy effectiveness were also assessed. A cross-sectional study analysis of patients under 18 years old recruited onto the multicenter EoE CONNECT registry was performed.

Background: HLA-DQA1*05 carriage has been associated with an increased risk of immunogenicity in patients with immune-mediated inflammatory diseases treated with tumour necrosis factor-alpha [TNF-a] antagonists. Results have shown an inconsistent association with a loss of response [LOR] in patients with inflammatory bowel disease [IBD], which could be modified when using proactive optimisation and association with immunomodulatory drugs.
Aims: To define the association of HLA-DQA1*05 on anti-drug antibody development and loss of response [LOR] to anti-TNF-a in IBD.
Background: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common concomitant condition in patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). We aim to assess the magnitude of this association.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE and Scopus libraries for the period up to February 2023 to identify studies reporting cohorts of IBD patients in which NALFLD was evaluated.

Objective: During lasts years, the use of information and communication technologies (ICTs) have boomed up, as well as their related- harmful behaviours. Parallel, time and quality of sleep has reduced along current society, which implies negatively in health in medium and long-terms. The present study aims to evaluate the association between lifestyle habits and quality of sleep of a subpopulation of young students.

The MEDLINE, EMBASE, Scopus, and Web of Science (WOS) databases were searched. Risk of bias and applicability were assessed with PROBAST.

Aim: To compare disease characteristics, endoscopic and histological features, allergic concomitances and therapeutic choices across ages.
Methods: Cross-sectional analysis of the EoE CONNECT registry.
Background: Cow's milk protein is the main food trigger for eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE) in children and adults and should be continuously avoided once identified as such.
Aims: To evaluate tolerance of sterilised cow's milk (boiled instead of UHT processing) with regard to maintenance of EoE remission, health-related quality of life (HRQoL), nutritional intake and allergic sensitisation in patients of all ages with milk-triggered EoE METHODS: We prospectively recruited patients in whom cow's milk was demonstrated to trigger EoE after an empirical food elimination diet-based study. They were given 200 ml of sterilised cow's milk twice daily for 8 weeks.
Background: Poor adherence to clinical practice guidelines for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) has been described and the diagnostic delay of the disease continues to be unacceptable in many settings.
Objective: To analyze the impact of improved knowledge provided by the successive international clinical practice guidelines on reducing diagnostic delay and improving the diagnostic process for European patients with EoE.
Methods: Cross-sectional analysis of the EoE CONNECT registry based on clinical practice.

Background: The growing prevalence of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) represents a considerable burden to patients and health care systems. Optimizing cost-effective management and identifying mechanisms for disease onset and progression are required. However, the paucity of large patient cohorts and heterogeneity of practice hinder the defining of optimal management of EoE.

This study aims to analyze the validity and reliability of the RASS in assessing sedation and agitation in critically ill children. Methods: We conducted a systematic review of the pathogenesis of MC. We applied the Joanna Briggs Institute methodologies and the PRISMA statement for the reporting of systematic reviews [PROSPERO Trial Identifier: CRD42020145008].
Background: The long-term effects of COVID-19 remain largely unclear. This study aims to investigate post-acute health consequences and mortality one year after hospital discharge.
Methods: All surviving adult patients who were discharged after hospital admission due to acute COVID-19 in the first wave of the pandemic underwent a comprehensive interview.
Background: Long-standing inflammation leads to esophageal remodeling with stricture formation in patients with eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). The ability of proton pump inhibitors (PPI) to reverse endoscopic features of fibrosis is still unknown.
Objective: To investigate the effect of a short course of PPI treatment in reducing endoscopic findings indicative of esophageal fibrosis in EoE patients.
Background: Risk factors for in-hospital mortality from severe coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) infection have been identified in studies mainly carried out in urban-based teaching hospitals. However, there is little data for rural populations attending community hospitals during the first wave of the pandemic.
Methods: A retrospective, single-center cohort study was undertaken among inpatients at a rural community hospital in Spain.
A lifelong gluten-free diet (GFD) is the only current treatment for celiac disease (CD), but strict compliance is complicated. Duodenal biopsies are the "gold standard" method for diagnosing CD, but they are not generally recommended for disease monitoring. We evaluated the sensitivity and specificity of fecal gluten immunogenic peptides (GIPs) to detect duodenal lesions in CD patients on a GFD and compared them with serum anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG) IgA antibodies.

Introduction: The rapid expansion in the epidemiology of eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is being documented, along with cumulative research assessing environmental exposures associated with EoE and susceptibility due to genetic variants.
Areas Covered: Incidence rates for EoE of 5-10 new cases per 100,000 inhabitants annually have shown an increase in recent reports of up to 20 in some countries; the highest prevalence being reported for Europe and North America, where EoE now affects more than 1 out of 1,000 people. EoE has been shown to be associated with several disorders, Th2-mediated atopies being the most common.
Background: Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are the most commonly used first-line therapy for patients with eosinophilic oesophagitis (EoE). However, many aspects related to PPIs in EoE are still unknown.
Aims: To assess the effectiveness of PPI therapy for EoE in real-world practice.

Background & Aims: Topical steroids, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs), and dietary interventions are recommended first- and second-line therapies for eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE). We investigated differences in their effectiveness in a real-world, clinical practice cohort of patients with EoE.
Methods: We collected data on the efficacy of different therapies for EoE (ability to induce clinical and histologic remission) from the multicenter EoE CONNECT database-a database of patients with a confirmed diagnosis of EoE in Europe that began in 2016.
Background: Tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) is involved in inducing inflammatory anemia. The potential effect of anti-TNF-α agents on anemia in inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is still unknown.
Methods: Analytical data and disease characteristics from 362 IBD patients [271 CD/91UC) treated with anti-TNF-α drugs were retrospectively collected.
