Two novel sesquiterpene lactones, cytotoxic vernolide-A and -B, from Vernonia cinerea.

Bioassay-directed fractionation of an ethanolic extract of stems of Vernonia cinerea has resulted in the isolation of two novel sesquiterpene lactones, vernolide-A and -B.
