Cholangiocarcinoma is the second most common hepatobiliary cancer following hepatocellular carcinoma, and 20% to 25% are intrahepatic. We describe 2 cases of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma arising within unusual and rare hepatic lesions, fibropolycystic liver disease form of ductal plate malformation and biliary adenofibroma, whose association with malignancy is rarely reported in the literature.

Methods: Large vessel ischemic stroke patients with favorable CT-perfusion were randomized to endovascular thrombectomy after alteplase versus alteplase-only.
Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is now well established as an important tool in clinical practice. From purely diagnostic imaging, it has progressed to include tissue acquisition, which provided the basis for therapeutic procedures. Even as interventional EUS developed, there has been ongoing progress in EUS diagnostic capabilities due to improved imaging systems, better needles for tissue acquisition and development of enhanced imaging functions such as contrast harmonic EUS (CHEUS) and EUS elastography.

We performed (epi)genomic profiling of 138 IMs from 148 cancer-free patients, recruited through a 10-year prospective study. Compared with GCs, IMs exhibit low mutational burdens, recurrent mutations in certain tumor suppressors (FBXW7) but not others (TP53, ARID1A), chromosome 8q amplification, and shortened telomeres.

During thermolysis without presence of catalyst, heat was converted to thermal energy to break the enthalpy of chemical structure bonding and only 31.62% of color removal.

Background: There is no consensus on what constitutes adequate training for needle knife precut sphincterotomy.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to determine the number of procedures required before effective and safe precut sphincterotomy can be achieved.
Methods: This retrospective study examined the cumulative experience of a single endoscopist from January 2006-December 2015.
We report on the design and experimental demonstration of a broadband silicon polarization beam splitter (PBS) with a high extinction ratio (ER)≥30 dB. This was achieved using triple-bent-waveguide directional coupling in a single PBS, and cascaded PBS topology. For the single PBS, the bandwidths for an ER≥30 dB are 20 nm for the quasi-TE mode, and 70 nm for the quasi-TM mode when a broadband light source (1520-1610 nm) was employed.

This survey was carried out amongst members of the EUS Journal Editorial Board to describe their practices in performing this procedure. This was a worldwide multi-institutional survey amongst members of the EUS Journal Editorial Board in May 2017.

However, alteplase only succeeds in reperfusing large vessel arterial occlusion prior to thrombectomy in a minority of patients.

A design methodology based on the transfer matrix method (TMM) is used to determine the required coupler section lengths, radii, and waveguide cross-sections. A 50/50 power splitter with a measured bandwidth of 88 nm is designed and fabricated, with a device footprint of 20 μm × 3 μm.

Methods: Patients were randomised to high definition white light endoscopy (HD-WLE) or the bright narrow band imaging (bNBI) during withdrawal of the colonoscope. Polyps identified in either mode were characterised using bNBI with dual focus (bNBI-DF) according to the Sano's classification.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is an infection that has a role in causing dyspepsia and complications such as peptic ulcer disease and gastric malignancies. In the primary care setting, one can adopt a stepwise approach with the 'test-and-treat' strategy to manage H.

However, to date there have been no randomized trials comparing TC-325 with the conventional combined technique (CCT). Our pilot study aimed to compare the efficacy and safety of TC-325 with those of CCT in treating peptic ulcers with active bleeding or high-risk stigmata.

Aims: We aimed to assess the accuracy of an existing 8-item stroke scale (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale-8 [NIHSS-8]) for identification of patients with acute stroke with LVO.
Methods: We retrospectively calculated NIHSS-8 scores in a population of consecutive patients with presumed acute stroke assessed by emergency medical services (EMS).

Pancreatic lymphangiomas are rare, but benign neoplasms. Historically, the diagnoses in various case reports were mostly made after surgical resection. There are emerging data concerning the utility of endoscopic ultrasound-guided fine needle aspiration (EUS-FNA) to differentiate it from more sinister pancreatic cystic neoplasms.

Gastric cancer is the third most common cause of cancer-related death. Advanced stages of gastric cancers generally have grim prognosis. But, good prognosis can be achieved if such cancers are detected, diagnosed and resected at early stages.

It has high clinical efficacy, similar to surgical and percutaneous approaches, but with lower morbidity and costs. It is superior to non-EUS-guided approaches because even collections without endoluminal bulging can be successfully drained.
