Lactating sows and their litters are particularly vulnerable to heat stress (HS). HS decreases fertility, feed intake, milk production, and litter growth of sows. Approaches are needed to mitigate the negative effects of HS on animal welfare and oxidative damage to tissues.

The study was arranged as a 2 × 2 × 6 factorial design with two dietary substrates, two time points (6 and 24 h), and six treatments. The treatments included a control group with no MOS or OP administration and groups administered with 2% of a mixture containing MOS and OP in the following ratios: 1:0 (MOS), 0:1 (OP), 1:1 (MOS:OP), 1:2 (MOS:2OP), and 1:3 (MOS:3OP).

Botanical extracts (BE; Apex, Adisseo North America, Atlanta, GA) are known to enhance DMI and gut health, whereas direct-fed microbials (DFM), such as a Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product (EX: Excel; Pacer Technology Inc., Murtaugh, ID), have demonstrated improved gut health and growth performance when fed to growing neonatal Holstein calves. The hypothesis was this combination may be synergistic to neonatal calf growth performance and intestinal health.

For many years, antibiotic-based feed additives showed promising results; however, their administration in animal feeds has been banned due to some public concerns regarding their residues in the produced milk and meat from treated animals. Some microorganisms have desirable properties and elicit certain effects, which makes them potential alternatives to antibiotics to enhance intestinal health and ruminal fermentation.

This study evaluated the optimal inclusion rate for improving the growth and health performance of neonatal calves. Eighty-eight 2 to 5-d old Holstein bull calves were blocked by initial BW and randomly allocated to 1 of 4 treatments using a randomized complete block design.

Despite established clinical guidelines for ischemic priapism, there is a lack of large-scale research focused on patient characteristics and management strategies.

Methods: A voluntary survey was distributed from June 1 to June 30, 2023 to GURS fellowship graduates of the last 5 years. Participants were surveyed on time since graduation, operative volume, outcomes, and quoted success rates for urethroplasty.

We describe a unique case of urinary retention due to AUS entanglement causing urethral constriction in a 72-year-old male. He presented to the emergency department postoperatively following AUS placement with pelvic pain and incomplete emptying.

In response to this challenge, the current study introduces originality by addressing the lack of region-specific feeding strategies for water buffaloes. This is achieved through the formulation of 30 different diets based on locally available resources, offering a tailored approach to enhance nutritional optimization in diverse agroecological contexts.

We present a unique case of a 28-year-old professional male gamer with a remote history of hemoptysis and cervical lymphadenopathy who presented with hematospermia, lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), and persistent groin abscesses after left orchiectomy at an outside hospital. He underwent drainage of groin abscess and prostate biopsy for an abnormal digital rectal exam which revealed disseminated blastomycosis requiring systemic, long-term antifungal treatment.

Here, we present a unique case of a woman with recurrent pyelonephritis, severe anemia, and unintended weight loss, who was eventually diagnosed with a colo-renal fistula. Delayed imaging following intraoperative fluoroscopy revealed the abnormal connection between the colon and upper urinary tract.

This study aimed to use an International Classification of Disease (ICD) and prescription drug-based depression phenotypes to classify people with SCI, and to evaluate the prevalence of those phenotypes, associated risk factors, and healthcare utilization. Retrospective Observational Study Marketscan Database (2000-2019) Individuals with SCI were classified into six ICD-9/10, and prescription drugs defined phenotypes: Major Depressive Disorder (MDD), Other Depression (OthDep), Antidepressants for Other Psychiatric Conditions (PsychRx), Antidepressants for non-psychiatric condition (NoPsychRx), Other Non-depression Psychiatric conditions only (NonDepPsych), and No Depression (NoDep).
