Article Synopsis
  • Delayed neurological decline can occur after successful decompression surgery for cervical myelopathy, prompting a study on the effectiveness of revision surgery.
  • Fourteen patients who underwent both primary and revision decompression surgeries were evaluated to compare their neurological recovery, using the modified Japanese Orthopedic Association (mJOA) score.
  • Results showed that the improvement in mJOA scores after revision surgery was comparable to that of the primary surgery, suggesting that patients can regain lost neurological function with careful case selection for revision.

Introduction: The bone-implant junction is a potential site for aseptic loosening. Extracortical bone bridging at the bone-implant junction is advocated to improve implant fixation by forming a biological seal. We propose a novel technique with vascularised bone graft (VBG) to form an extracortical bone bridge at the bone-implant junction to enhance implant stability.
