Introduction: Establishment of a prospective stroke registry may promote the documentation and improvement of acute stroke care. We present the status of stroke management in Greece using the Registry of Stroke Care Quality (RES-Q) dataset.
Methods: Consecutive patients with acute stroke were prospectively registered in RES-Q registry by contributing sites in Greece during the years 2017-2021.

Backround & Purpose: Perioperative neck hematoma (PNH) requiring re-intervention is an important complication after carotid endarterectomy (CEA). There are limited data regarding the potential risk factors associated with PNH. The aim of this prospective, multicenter study was to document the rate of PNH in symptomatic carotid artery stenosis (sCAS) patients treated with CEA within the first 14 days of cerebrovascular symptom onset and to identify possible predictors of this complication.

We sought to prospectively identify independent predictors of atrial fibrillation (AF) detection in patients with CS and sinus rhythm on baseline electrocardiogram (ECG), without prior AF history. We had hypothesized that cardiac arrhythmia detection during neurosonology examinations (Carotid Duplex (CDU) and Transcranial Doppler (TCD)) may be associated with higher likelihood of AF detection.

Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) or carotid artery stenting (CAS) are highly recommended for the secondary prevention of symptomatic CAD during the first 14 days following the index event of transient ischemic attack or minor stroke. CEA or CAS may also be offered in selected cases with severe asymptomatic stenosis.

Approach And Results: We sought to evaluate the potential association between SP and microembolic signal (MES) burden in acute cerebral ischemia because of large artery atherosclerosis (LAA). We prospectively evaluated consecutive patients with first-ever acute cerebral ischemia because of LAA in 3 tertiary stroke centers over a 2-year period.
No eligibility screening logs were kept in recent mechanical thrombectomy (MT) RCTs establishing safety and efficacy of endovascular reperfusion therapies for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). We sought to evaluate the potential eligibility for MT among consecutive AIS patients in a prospective international multicenter study. We prospectively evaluated consecutive AIS patients admitted in four tertiary-care stroke centers during a twelve-month period.

Methods: In total, 131 placements for neurology training over 18 hospitals were available. All residents were approached and were asked to participate in the study by anonymously completing a questionnaire.
Background: Psychological stress is common to patients submitted to cardiovascular operations. The purpose of this pilot, single-center, open-label, randomized controlled trial was to investigate the effects of a stress management program (SMP) on patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy (CEA).
Methods: A sample of 24 patients with significant (>70%) carotid stenosis was finally randomized to SMP (intervention group; n = 12) or no-stress management intervention (control group; n = 12) before CEA.
