Three-dimensional (3D) spheroid cell cultures of fibroblast (L929) and tumor mammary mouse (4T1) were chosen as in vitro tissue models for tissue imaging of ternary AgInS/ZnS fraction quantum dots (QDs). We showed that the tissue-mimetic morphology of cell spheroids through well-developed cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions and distinct diffusion/transport characteristics makes it possible to predict the effect of ternary AgInS/ZnS fraction QDs on the vital activity of cells while simultaneously comparing with classical two-dimensional (2D) cell cultures. The AgInS/ZnS fractions, emitting in a wide spectral range from 635 to 535 nm with a mean size from ∼3.

This paper reports a simple synthesis of novel water-soluble glutathione-capped silver nanoclusters (GSH-Ag NCs) with an enhanced antibacterial activity. According to thin layer chromatography (TLC), the synthesized GSH-Ag NCs are an individual fraction of the same composition without any impurities.

A strain, 3EQS1, was isolated from a salt sample taken from Lake Qarun (Fayoum Province, Egypt). On the basis of physiological, biochemical, and phylogenetic analyses, the strain was classified as Chromohalobacter salexigens. By 72 h of growth at 25 °C, strain 3EQS1 produced large amounts (15.

In this paper, we developed a simple and quantitative method for the non-enzymatic detection of HO based on the selective etching of Au@Ag nanorods with embedded Raman active molecules. The transfer of electrons between silver atoms and hydrogen peroxide enhances the oxidation reaction, and the Ag shell around the Au nanorod gradually dissolves.

The synthesis of the CuNPs was optimized to maximize the analytical signal, and microwave heating was used to increase the reaction rate and improve the homogeneity of the CuNPs. Ceftriaxone (CTR), cefazolin (CZL), and cefoperazone (CPR) were used as the analytes of interest.

This report is dedicated to determination of anticancer drug methotrexate (MTX) in human urine using surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). Aluminum oxide loaded with silver nanoparticles (AO-Ag) was proposed as SERS-active sorbent and used for solid-phase extraction (SPE) of the analyte and its SERS-based determination (SPE-SERS protocol). MTX has strong SERS signal only in alkaline media that challenges its determination in urine due to strong background signal caused by creatinine.

Due to the high overlap between a guiding light mode and an analyte filling of one or several fiber capillaries, such systems are able to provide strong sensitivity with respect to variations in the refractive index and the thickness of filling materials. Here, we introduce a novel type of functionalized MOWs whose capillaries are coated by a layer-by-layer (LBL) approach, enabling the alternate deposition of silica particles (SiO) at different diameters-300 nm, 420 nm, and 900 nm-and layers of poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) (PDDA).
