Objective: To assess the correlation between the general (gender, age, and maximum tumor size) and 3D morphotopometric features of the renal tumor node, following the MSCT data post-processing, and the tumor histological structure; to propose an equation allowing for kidney malignancy assessment based on general and morphometric features.

Materials And Methods: In total, 304 patients with unilateral solitary renal neoplasms underwent laparoscopic (retroperitoneoscopic) or robotic partial or radical nephrectomy. Before the procedure, kidney contrast-enhanced MSCT followed by the tumor 3D-modeling was performed.

We report an optimized Kalinnikov-Dinh technology for pre-Descemet's endothelial keratoplasty (PDEK) that involves the use of a ring fixator, base, 30G needle connected to a 5-ml syringe with a spring-loaded plunger, and storage media. Our method allows to minimize graft preparation failure and preserves the PDEK graft efficiently, by reducing complications associated with the formation of type 1 big bubbles, including bubble rupture, perforation of Descemet's membrane and endothelium, and formation of type 2 or mixed type of big bubbles, and may contribute to increasing the number of surgeons performing PDEK around the globe.

Background And Aim: Antibiotic resistance, especially in Gram-negative bacteria, is a major public health risk affecting all industries requiring the use of antibiotics, including agriculture and animal breeding. This study aimed to use papaya extracts to synthesize silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and evaluate their antimicrobial activity against various Gram-negative bacteria.

Materials And Methods: Silver nanoparticles were synthesized from the aqueous extracts of papaya seed, root, and bark, with AgNO used as a reducing agent.

Background: Acute appendicitis is the most frequent surgical emergency in the paediatric population. Complicated appendicitis accounts for 30% of cases and is inextricably linked to postoperative infectious complications. A study at our institution showed that amoxicillin-clavulanate resistant Escherichia coli in complicated appendicitis was significantly linked to postoperative infectious complications.

Ovarian failure is a major long-term adverse event following gonadotoxic treatment of malignant diseases. Ovarian tissue cryopreservation can be offered in some conditions to preserve fertility. We report the case of a 13-year-old female with a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia, who presented with hypergonadotropic hypogonadism after unilateral ovariectomy for fertility preservation and before highly gonadotoxic treatment.

Background: Choice of antibiotics for complicated appendicitis should address local antibiotic resistance patterns. As our local data showed a less than 15% resistance of Escherichia coli to co-amoxicillin (amoxicillin + clavulanic acid), we opted for this antibiotic in 2013. Subsequently, the increasing prevalence of Pseudomonas aeruginosa challenged this choice.

The aim of this study was to compare clinical and radiological outcome of lateral condyle fracture of the elbow in children treated with bioabsorbable or metallic material. From January 2008 to December 2009, 16 children with similar fractures and ages were grouped according to the fixation material used. Children were seen at 3, 6, and 12 months and more than 4 years (mean 51.

The complex [Cu4(phen)4(H2O)2]·(pyri)·3H2O(where phen=1,10-phenanthroline and pyri=3,5-pyridine dicarboxylic acid)has been synthesized and characterized. IR spectra, elemental analysis and X-ray single-crystal diffraction were carried out to determine the composition and crystal structure of the complex. The binding of the complex with HC-DNA (HeLa cells DNA, which was extracted by ourselves) was investigated by fluorescence spectrum.
