Integrating physiotherapy into primary care models: A scoping review protocol.

Introduction: Physiotherapists (PTs) working in primary care settings within an interprofessional team can lead to favourable health outcomes and decreased burden on the healthcare system. Although PT models of care are important to primary care delivery, there is a lack of knowledge and evidence on the characteristics of these models of care, the differences and similarities between the models, and the barriers and facilitators to implementing these models. This scoping review protocol aims to fill this knowledge gap by synthesizing the evidence and characteristics of models of care that integrate physiotherapists within primary care teams, mapping the similarities and differences, and describing barriers and facilitators to implementing models of care that integrate physiotherapists within primary care teams.

The educational pathway to Advanced Practice for the physiotherapist: Protocol for a systematic mixed studies review.

Rationale: Advanced Practice Physiotherapy (APP) is a post-licensure higher level of practice that requires distinctly increased skills, clinical reasoning and experience. The four pillars that underpin APP are clinical practice, leadership, education and research. Multiple systematic reviews support that APP is beneficial to health care systems.

Introduction: The need for a global core competency and capability framework for advanced practice physiotherapy is important due to the rapidly changing nature of health care delivery internationally and the need to standardize advanced practice physiotherapy.

Introduction: There is an urgent need to develop an international competency and capability framework to support standardization of education and roles in advanced practice physiotherapy (APP). This need arose due to the rapid growth of the APP model of care, implemented out of necessity in the absence of agreement as to the competencies and capabilities or formal education required for the roles. This study explores the views and perceptions of practitioners and key stakeholders on a draft competency and capability framework for advanced practice physiotherapists.

Evaluating a new referral pathway from physical therapists to rheumatologists: A qualitative study.

Early referral to rheumatology of people with suspected inflammatory arthritis is associated with better outcomes. Typically, these individuals are seen by a family physician who would assess the need for rheumatology referral. However, some may first consult a physical therapist where no physician referral is required.

Introduction: Advanced practice in physiotherapy represents a development in the practice of physiotherapy and has developed in different ways around the world. There is growing evidence to support advanced physiotherapy practice. In May 2019, the member organisations adopted the first World Physiotherapy policy on advanced practice in physiotherapy.

The relationship between individual-level deprivation and health-related quality of life.

Objective: To examine the association between individual-level deprivation and health-related quality of life (HRQL) in the general population.

Methods: Data from a population-based survey in the Canadian province of Alberta were used. Individual-level deprivation was assessed using the Canadian Deprivation Index (CDI) and the Ontario Deprivation Index (ODI).

Discriminative validity of the EQ-5D-5 L and SF-12 in older adults with arthritis.

Background: The EQ-5D-5 L and the SF-12 are the most commonly used generic measures of health-related quality of life among people with arthritis. However, there is little evidence on the extent to which the individual dimensions and domains of these instruments perform among this population. The objective was to examine the discriminative validity of the EQ-5D-5 L and the SF-12 version 2 (and SF-6D) in capturing the burden of arthritis on health-related quality of life in older adults.

Advanced Physiotherapy Practice: A qualitative study on the potential challenges and barriers to implementation in Ghana.

: To identify the potential challenges and barriers to the implementation of Advanced Physiotherapy Practice (APP) in Ghana. : A basic interpretive qualitative study design was conducted, with a semi-structured focus group comprising eight physiotherapists and a one-to-one interview with the director of orthopedic surgery in the second largest hospital in Ghana. Participants were sampled purposefully to ensure they had a clear understanding of APP.
