Background: This study examined nurse faculty members' teaching, scholarship, and professional development interests across Southeastern Conference (SEC) nursing schools, and evaluated differences in these needs associated with years in academia, tenure status, faculty rank, and Accountable Health Communities (AHC) versus non-AHC settings.

Method: Rosenthal and Stanberry's framework for faculty development provided the theoretical foundation for this cross-sectional study to explore topics of interests of faculty at 12 SEC nursing schools.

Materials And Methods: Patients who underwent AVS for PA, between September 1990 and October 2023, were retrospectively identified. Patients with ICM allergy who received corticosteroid pre-medication were matched 1:1 with patients without contrast allergy.

Application of multivariate curve resolution to non-invasive Raman spectra has been investigated for rapid on-line analysis of crystallisation processes and high-throughput screening. Exploring quantification of mefenamic acid solid forms (form I, form II, and dimethylformamide solvate) from the Raman spectra indicated excellent agreement with off-line X-ray analysis.

Background: Although intravenous antibiotics have historically been the standard of care for bone and joint infections, clinical trial data have highlighted the safety and efficacy of oral antibiotics. Despite this, intravenous antibiotics are still commonly used, and evaluations of institutional guidelines advancing oral antibiotic use are limited.

Methods: In April 2023, we implemented a new institutional guideline to preferentially treat patients with bone and joint infections with oral antibiotics.

As a social species, humans live in complexly bounded social groups. In order to navigate these networks, humans rely on a set of social-cognitive processes, including social working memory. Here, we designed a novel network memory task to study working memory for social versus non-social network information across 241 participants (18-65 years) in a tightly controlled, preregistered study.

Purpose Of Review: This review aims to synthesize recent developments in the epidemiology of idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs), focusing on incidence, prevalence, disease classification, and clinical outcomes.

Recent Findings: IIM is a rare group of autoimmune diseases characterized by muscle weakness and systemic involvement, with incidence rates ranging from 0.2 to 2 cases per 100 000 person-years.

"Are my blood products coming?": Implementation of a novel blood product tracker in the electronic health record system.

Background: Blood transfusions are the most common procedure performed in American hospitals. The steps required for blood product delivery are often misunderstood by providers, leading to numerous phone calls to the blood bank requesting order status. Distracting calls can lengthen turnaround time, especially during blood product or staff shortages.

Debate: Where to next for universal school-based mental health interventions? Time to move towards more effective alternatives.

There is an urgent need to improve mental health outcomes among young people. One approach taken to address this problem has been the design and delivery of universal school-based prevention, based on therapeutic models such as CBT and mindfulness. Such interventions are delivered to groups of young people, irrespective of risk or need.

A Pilot Faculty Fellows Pipeline Program: Developing Nurse Educators in South Carolina.

Background: Several regions across the United States, especially in the Southeast, are facing a critical nurse and nurse-faculty shortage.

Method: The College of Nursing at the University of South Carolina (USC) created the Nurse Faculty Fellow Pipeline Program (NFFPP) to increase the nursing faculty workforce. Additional faculty are needed to educate nurses to meet the state's needs.

Environmental fungi target thiol homeostasis to compete with Mycobacterium tuberculosis.

Mycobacterial species in nature are found in abundance in sphagnum peat bogs where they compete for nutrients with a variety of microorganisms including fungi. We screened a collection of fungi isolated from sphagnum bogs by co-culture with Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) to look for inducible expression of antitubercular agents and identified 5 fungi that produced cidal antitubercular agents upon exposure to live Mtb. Whole genome sequencing of these fungi followed by fungal RNAseq after Mtb exposure allowed us to identify biosynthetic gene clusters induced by co-culture.

Purpose: Perioperative blood transfusion has been reported in > 50% of patients undergoing radical cystectomy (RC). Unfortunately, perioperative blood transfusion (PBT) in patients undergoing RC has been associated with poor oncological outcomes. Tranexamic acid (TXA) use has been proposed to decrease the need for PBT.

Signatures of transmission in within-host Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex variation: a retrospective genomic epidemiology study.

Background: Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) species evolve slowly, so isolates from individuals linked in transmission often have identical or nearly identical genomes, making it difficult to reconstruct transmission chains. Finding additional sources of shared MTBC variation could help overcome this problem. Previous studies have reported MTBC diversity within infected individuals; however, whether within-host variation improves transmission inferences remains unclear.
