Quantifying changes in the properties of smoke aerosols under varying conditions is important for understanding the health and environmental impacts of exposure to smoke. Smoke composition, aerosol liquid water content, effective density (ρ), and other properties can change significantly as smoke travels through areas under different ambient conditions and over time. During this study, we measured changes in smoke composition and physical properties due to oxidative aging and exposure to humidity.

To address concerns about limited training of psychologists working in long-term care (LTC) facilities, the Psychologists in Long-Term Care (PLTC) organization published Standards for Psychological Services in Long-Term Care Facilities (Lichtenberg et al., 1998). Background: Previous angiogenesis models use animal tissues such as the chicken chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) or the rabbit cornea. These models may not accurately reflect the mechanisms responsible for human angiogenesis.

Materials And Methods: We hypothesized that fragments of human myocardial tissue would develop an angiogenic response from the cut edges of vessels contained within the tissue.

To examine whether habituation to having temperatures taken might reduce the emotional fever induced by other stressors, 20 rats were habituated by having three colonic temperatures taken within 6 min twice a week for 8 weeks. Two novel stressors were added during Week 9; rats were given an intraperitoneal saline injection before taking their temperatures on Day 1, and on a second day, they were housed with a group of unfamiliar animals for 5 min before taking their temperatures. Temperatures during Weeks 10-11 were taken as during Weeks 1-8.
