Percutaneous transdermal absorption of esculetin (6,7-dihydroxycoumarin), an oxidative damage inhibitor, was evaluated by means of in vitro permeation studies in which vertical Franz-type diffusion cells and pig ear skin were employed. To determine the absorption of esculetin, we validated a simple, accurate, precise, and rapid HPLC-UV method. Additionally, the effects of several percutaneous enhancers were studied.

Article Synopsis
  • The study explores alternative methods for administering midazolam to reduce pain and stress during procedures, particularly for children, focusing on transdermal delivery techniques.
  • It compares the effectiveness of iontophoresis and chemical enhancers, both individually and in combination, to improve skin absorption of midazolam.
  • Findings indicate that while Azone significantly enhances drug absorption, combining it with iontophoresis does not produce a synergistic effect, with both techniques showing improved but independently effective results.

Elastic liposomes, including sumatriptan succinate, were prepared for their transdermal administration. Lipid vesicles containing 1,2-dioleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine (DOPC) or l-α-phosphatidylcholine dilauroyl (DLPC) phospholipids were characterized for various parameters, including size, particle-size distribution (i.e.
