Objectives: To determine the prevalence of self-reported delayed adverse events (DAEs), major AEs, and flares following COVID-19 vaccinations among patients with autoimmune rheumatic diseases (AIRDs) in Malaysia.

Methodology: An electronically validated survey from the COVID-19 vaccination in autoimmune diseases (COVAD) study group was distributed in July 2021 to patients with autoimmune diseases and healthy controls (HCs). The survey collected data on DAEs (any AE that persisted or occurred after 7 days of vaccination), any early or delayed major adverse events (MAEs), and flares following COVID-19 vaccination.

The hippocampus is indispensable for episodic memories, but its particular role in the process is still unclear. This chapter briefly overviews past studies focusing on place cells and memory engrams, highlighting their potential roles in spatial navigation. Future work reconciling these two lines of studies would provide a comprehensive view of the specific contribution of the hippocampus and a better understanding of how memory engrams support memory.

Maternal autoimmune rheumatic diseases can influence the outcomes of children through several life stages. During pregnancy, maternal inflammation and autoantibodies can hinder fetal development and lead to growth restriction, preterm birth, and low birth weight; prematurity, especially at extreme gestational ages, can in turn impair future child health. Treatment with compatible immunomodulatory drugs and preventive medications aims to keep maternal disease under control and minimise the risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes.

Objective: Attribution of neuropsychiatric symptoms in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) relies heavily on clinician assessment. Limited clinic time, variable knowledge, and symptom under-reporting contributes to discordance between clinician assessments and patient symptoms. In antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), the risk of clinical manifestations increases with higher titers of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL).
