The use of psychiatric medications and associated factors among people receiving care at a transgender outpatient clinic in Southern Brazil, 2021-2022.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of psychiatric medication use and sociodemographic factors, including gender identity, age, race/skin color, education level, formal employment, and access to Primary Health Care (PHC) centers, among individuals receiving care at a transgender outpatient clinic in Southern Brazil.

Methods: : This was a cross-sectional study using administrative data from the information systems of the Municipal Health Department of Porto Alegre, the capital city of Rio Grande do Sul state, collected between 2021 and 2022.

Results: : This study analyzed 629 records of individuals who accessed the outpatient clinic and found a 29% prevalence (95%CI 25;32) of psychiatric medication use, with the most frequent class being psychoanaleptics (45%), especially fluoxetine (31%).

Case-control study on challenges in loss of follow-up care and the limitations in the reach of HIV policies for women.

Introduction: HIV has transitioned from a devastating 1980s epidemic to a manageable chronic condition with antiretroviral therapy. In Brazil, challenges persist, including high detection rates and loss of medical follow-up among people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHIV). Adherence, engagement, and avoiding loss to follow-up are critical for effective HIV/AIDS prevention and care.

On Integrated Residency in Health with emphasis on Health Surveillance.

Taking into account the four underpinning areas of Health Surveillance (environmental, epidemiological, health and worker's health), the performance of professionals in this area requires a broad and complex set of information from many fields of knowledge, including that which is not classified as health. Considering the need to prepare professionals to work in Health Surveillance in the Unified Health System (SUS), integrating the four fields of knowledge, the Public Health School of Rio Grande do Sul (ESP/RS) and the surveillance areas of the municipality of Porto Alegre and Rio Grande do Sul State have established a new emphasis in the traditional residency of ESP/RS. This work uses the experience report descriptive method.
