Peripapillary pachychoroid syndrome (PPS) is a recently described condition, classified within the pachychoroid disease spectrum characterized by focal or diffuse thickening of the choroid due to dilation of choroidal vessels in the Haller's layer (pachyvessels), thinning of the choriocapillaris and the Sattler's layer, and accompanied by increased choroidal permeability and damage to the retinal pigment epithelium. Unlike other pachychoroid diseases that involve changes in the central retina, PPS presents with choroidal thickening and intra- or subretinal fluid located nasally in the macular region, near the optic disc. This review aims to summarize and analyze current data on the clinical features, pathogenesis, and treatment options for PPS found in the literature.

Mesoporous hydroxyapatite (HA) is widely used in various applications, such as the biomedical field, as a catalytic, as a sensor, and many others. The aim of this work was to obtain HA powders by means of chemical precipitation in a medium containing a polymer-polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP)-with concentrations ranging from 0 to 10%. Studies in preclinical models support that the gut microbiota play a critical role in the development and progression of colorectal cancer (CRC). Specific microbial species and their corresponding virulence factors or associated small molecules can contribute to CRC development and progression either via direct effects on the neoplastic transformation of epithelial cells or through interactions with the host immune system. Induction of DNA damage, activation of Wnt/β-catenin and NF-κB proinflammatory pathways, and alteration of the nutrient's availability and the metabolic activity of cancer cells are the main mechanisms by which the microbiota contribute to CRC.

Pho91 is a vacuolar phosphate transporter that exports phosphate from the vacuolar lumen to the cytosol in yeast cells. In this study, we have demonstrated the pleiotropic effects of the PHO91 gene knockout in the methylotrophic yeast Ogataea parapolymorpha (Hansenula polymorpha, Ogataea angusta). The content of both acid-soluble and acid-insoluble inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) in the ∆pho91 cells was slightly higher compared to the strain with wild-type PHO91, when the cells were cultivated on glucose.

In this paper, we report an approach to design nanolayered memristive compositions based on TiO/AlO bilayer structures with analog non-volatile and volatile tuning of the resistance. The structure of the TiO layer drives the physical mechanism underlying the non-volatile resistance switching, which can be changed from electronic to ionic, enabling the synaptic behavior emulation. The presence of the anatase phase in the amorphous TiO layer induces the resistive switching mechanism due to electronic processes.

It has been shown by a set of corrosion, electrochemical and physical methods that a chamber corrosion inhibitor that consists of a mixture of octadecylamine (ODA) and benzotriazole (BTA) efficiently protects copper and brass from atmospheric corrosion and can be used for the temporary protection of metal items. The optimum temperatures of treatment with the ODA + BTA mixed inhibitor is 120 °C for brass and 100 °C for copper. One-hour treatment in ODA + BTA vapors at these temperatures results in the formation of nanosized adsorption films on the surface of these metals.

The article presents the results of the development and study of a combined circuitry (compact) model of thin metal oxide films based memristive elements, which makes it possible to simulate both bipolar switching processes and multilevel tuning of the memristor conductivity taking into account the statistical variability of parameters for both device-to-device and cycle-to-cycle switching. The equivalent circuit of the memristive element and the equation system of the proposed model are considered. The software implementation of the model in the MATLAB has been made.
