Globozoospermia is a form of male infertility characterized by spermatozoa with spherical heads lacking acrosomes. In the present work, we address the problem of utilizing machine learning (ML) methods to predict the thermal properties of polymers by establishing "structure-property" relationships. Having focused on a particular class of heterocyclic polymers, namely polyimides (PIs), we developed a graph convolutional neural network (GCNN), being one of the most promising tools for working with big data, to predict the PI glass transition temperature as an example of the fundamental property of polymers. To train the GCNN, we propose an original methodology based on using a "transfer learning" approach with an enormous "synthetic" data set for pretraining and a small experimental data set for its fine-tuning.

The present work evaluates the transport properties of thermoplastic R-BAPB polyimide based on 1,3-bis(3,3',4,4'-dicarboxyphenoxy)benzene (dianhydride R) and 4,4'-bis(4-aminophenoxy)biphenyl (diamine BAPB). Both experimental studies and molecular dynamics simulations were applied to estimate the diffusion coefficients and solubilities of various gases, such as helium (He), oxygen (O), nitrogen (N), and methane (CH). The validity of the results obtained was confirmed by studying the correlation of the experimental solubilities and diffusion coefficients of He, O, and N in R-BAPB, with their critical temperatures and the effective sizes of the gas molecules, respectively.

An extension of the exact X-ray resonant magnetic reflectivity theory has been developed, taking into account the small value of the magnetic terms in the X-ray susceptibility tensor. It is shown that squared standing waves (fourth power of the total electric field) determine the output of the magnetic addition to the total reflectivity from a magnetic multilayer. The obtained generalized kinematical approach essentially speeds up the calculation of the asymmetry ratio in the magnetic reflectivity.

Mössbauer reflectivity spectra and nuclear resonance reflectivity (NRR) curves have been measured using the Synchrotron Mössbauer Source (SMS) for a [Fe/Cr] periodic multilayer, characterized by the antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling between adjacent Fe layers. Specific features of the Mössbauer reflectivity spectra measured with π-polarized radiation of the SMS near the critical angle and at the `magnetic' maximum on the NRR curve are analyzed. The variation of the ratio of lines in the Mössbauer reflectivity spectra and the change of the intensity of the `magnetic' maximum under an applied external field has been used to reveal the transformation of the magnetic alignment in the investigated multilayer.

Oxygen coordination of transition metals is a key for functional properties of transition-metal oxides, because hybridization of transition-metal d and oxygen p orbitals determines correlations between charges, spins and lattices. Strain often modifies the oxygen coordination environment and affects such correlations in the oxides, resulting in the emergence of unusual properties and, in some cases, fascinating behaviors. While these strain effects have been studied in many of the fully-oxygenated oxides, such as ABO3 perovskites, those in oxygen-deficient oxides consisting of various oxygen coordination environments like tetrahedra and pyramids as well as octahedra remain unexplored.
