Multimodality treatment by FOLFOX plus HIFU in a case of advanced pancreatic carcinoma. A case report.

Context: Pancreatic cancer is one of the most aggressive malignant diseases in which the survival rate has not improved in the past 40 years.

Case Report: A fifty-one-year-old male patient with inoperable metastatic pancreatic cancer and low response to chemotherapy with gemcitabine as single therapy underwent palliative high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) ablation. Continuing chemotherapy with folinic acid, oxaliplatin and 5-fluorouracil (FOLFOX) was made.

First step into space: performance and morphological evolution of P3HT:PCBM bulk heterojunction solar cells [corrected] under AM0 illumination.

P3HT (poly(3-hexylthiophene-2,5-diyl)):PC61BM ([6,6]-phenyl-C61 butyric acid methyl ester) bulk heterojunction solar cells are fabricated and characterized as a function of solar intensity, temperature, and aging at vacuum conditions under illumination with AM0 illumination for testing potential use in space applications. The evolution of the inner film morphology is probed with grazing incidence X-ray scattering techniques and correlated with the evolution of the efficiency during aging. Grazing incidence wide-angle X-ray scattering shows almost no change of the crystalline structure of the P3HT:PCBM films due to aging.

[Insertion-deletion polymorphism of angiotensin-1-converting enzyme gene in patients with endogenic psychoses].

Due to its role in dopamine system functioning in brain, angiotensin-1-converting enzyme (ACE) gene insertion-deletion (I/D) polymorphism is reportedly studied for association with major psychosis. The present study aimed at searching for I/D allele and genotype distribution in patients with major psychosis and healthy subjects and for an association between ACE gene polymorphism and clinical presentations of these disorders. One hundred and ninety-eight patients with schizophrenia (144) and affective disorders (54), 100 male, aged 36.

[Triggering bacterial infections in reactive arthritis].

108 patients, 75 men and 33 women, mean age 35 years, with reactive arthritis were studied by microbiological and serological methods for identification of a probable triggering infection. In 32 of the patients a Chlamydia infection, in 30 patients--Yersinia infection, in 7 patients--Staphylococcus infection and in 4 patients--Shigella infection were found. In 27 patients no infectious agent was found but in 4 of them a positive CBR for chlamydia in the sex partner was found.

[Diagnostic potentials of quantitative bone scintigraphy in spondylitis ankylopoietica: a comparison with x-ray findings].

In 576 patients quantitative scintigraphy of the sacroiliac joints and the spinal cord with 99mTc-Pyrophosphate was performed. 328 were patients with proven ankylosing spondylitis according to the New-York criteria. 120 were patients with a clinically and roentgenologically suspected ankylosing spondylitis and 128 persons formed a healthy control group.

[The survival of patients with systemic lupus erythematosus].

146 patients with systemic lupus erythematodes were followed up. The patients are classified into two groups: I group--includes 74 patients treated during the 1953-1980. II group--of 72 patients treated during the period 1980-1987.

[Study of the HLA system in rheumatoid arthritis].

A statistically significant, after correction of P value, increased incidence of the antigen HLA-DR4 chi 2 = 32.81, p less than 0.001, was established in the comparison of the antigen incidence of HLA-A, B, C and DR antigens in 59 patients with classical and positive rheumatoid arthritis and control healthy subjects.

[HLA B27-negative forms of Bechterew's disease].

For an 8 year period 45 patients with Bechterew's disease were found who had no antigen HLA-B27. 35 of the patients were tested for HLA--A, -B or -C. In 12 patients antigens of the cross-reacting group B27 (B7, Bw22 and B40) were found.

[Comparison of x-ray and radionuclide studies of the joints in patients with Touraine-Solente-Golé syndrome].

The thesis of primariness of the disease and of its osseous tissue manifestations is discussed on the grounds of the results from a complex study on 3 patients. The periosteal ossifying hyperplasia and disturbances in the osseous tissue structure develop with no other organ symptomatics and in the absence of any changes in the available laboratory and immunological indices. The macromorphological X-ray characteristic corresponds to the radionuclide tests of the study with 99MTc-pertechnetate, 99MTc-pyrophosphate and 99MTc-sulfocolloid, informing about abnormal vascularization index, growth of bone-marrow tissue and intensified joint-tissue anabolism.

[Seronegative, HLA-B27-positive arthritis (a preliminary report)].

Fifty two patients, 29 males and 23 females, with seronegative polyarthritis, carriers of tissue-compatible antigen HLA--B27 manifested characteristic clinical signs: the disease started at young age--29; it progresses, most frequently, with attacks--acute or subacute as monoarthritis (gonitis) or oligoarthritis, the lower limb joints predominantly involved. The periarticular structures are very often involved in the process--achillitis, styloiditis, talagia and sarcoiliac joints--sarcoiliitis clinically and scintigraphically confirmed. With the family examinations of the patients' relatives the following cases were established: 9 cases with Bechterew's disease, four cases with sacroiliitis, one--with iridocyclitis, two patients with rheumatoid arthritis and 18 healthy carriers of HLA--B27 antigen.

[Aseptic bone necrosis in lupus disease].

Seven cases with aseptic necrosis in lupus disseminatus are presented being 9.70 per cent of 72 patients with confirmed systemic lupus, observed in the cours of 20 years. Six cases with lupus disseminatus are concerned--acute and subacute paroxysm a course and one case with chronic skin form--discoid lupus, complicated in the course of its evolution with aseptic necrosis of the right head of the femur.

[Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis with a preparation of Sanokrizin--intravenous administration].

Treatment with the preparation "Sanokrizin", applied i. v. has been carried out to 50 patients with rheumatoid polyarthritis--32 seropositive and 18 seronegative forms, being with a duration of the morbid process from one to 17 years.
