Aim: Comparative assessment of structural changes in cardiomyocyte mitochondria of the right atrial appendage and the mitochondrial respiratory function in peripheral blood leukocytes in a cohort of patients after acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) and with stable chronic heart failure of ischemic etiology with reduced ejection fraction (CHFrEF) or moderately reduced ejection fraction (CHFmrEF) of the left ventricle.
Material And Methods: The study analyzed 40 micrographs of right atrial appendage cardiomyocytes obtained from 12 patients with CHFrEF and CHFmrEF. The study protocol was registered on ClinicalTrials.
FoxP3 T-regulatory (Treg) lymphocytes and cytokine production by cells from the stromal vascular fraction (SVF) of epicardial (EAT) and thymus (TAT) adipose tissue of 42 patients with chronic coronary heart disease (CHD) were studied. In the SVF of TAT in patients with Gensini Score (GS)≥74 (the most severe atherosclerosis), the production of IL-1β, TNF, IL-4, and IFNγ was higher, while FoxP3 translocation into the nucleus was lower than in patients with GS<74. The GS index directly correlated with the production of IL-4, IL-1β, and TNF by cells of the SVF of TAT, and inversely - with the production of TNF, IL-17, and IL-10 by cells of the SVF of EAT.

Myocardial fragments (trabeculae of the right atrial appendage) were obtained during coronary artery bypass surgery. The inotropic response of the trabeculae was assessed in an isometric mode.

Maleic acid copolymers, poly(styrene--maleic acid) (SM), poly(N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone--maleic acid) (VM) and poly(ethylene--maleic acid) (EM) were used to stabilize C fullerene molecules in an aqueous environment by forming non-covalent complexes. Polymer conjugates were prepared by mixing a solution of fullerene in N-methylpyrrolidone (NMP) with an aqueous solution of the copolymer, followed by exhaustive dialysis against water.

With this approach we fabricated three-dimensional nanowire-based spin valve devices without the need of complex etching processes or additional spacer coating. Through this method, we successfully obtained NiCu/Cu multilayered nanowire arrays with a controlled sequence along the long axis of the nanowires.

However, low bioavailability and rapid metabolism of polyphenols in a form of glycosides or aglycones have stimulated the search for the vehicles that would provide their efficient delivery to the systemic circulation. Conjugation of polyphenols with cationic amphiphilic peptides yields compounds with a strong antioxidant activity and ability to pass through biological barriers.

Material And Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted that included 80 patients with CHF and ischemic heart disease who were scheduled for coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) during their current hospitalization. In addition to routine clinical laboratory tests, coagulation parameters were evaluated and the following inflammatory biomarkers were determined: neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL), growth/differentiation factor 15 (GDF-15), fibroblast growth factor 23 (FGF-23), transforming growth factor beta-1 (TGF-β1), and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein.
NOD SCID mice were humanized by transplanting human hematopoietic cells isolated from umbilical cord blood. A dose-dependent death of hematopoietic cells and their subsequent recovery were shown after acute external γ-irradiation in the model of humanized mice. The proposed approach can be used for preclinical studies of radioprotective agents and for assessment of the impact of adverse factors on the survival rate and functional properties of human hematopoietic stem cells in vivo.

The present study investigated the effectiveness of Tixagevimab/Cilgavimab and Regdanvimab for mild and moderate COVID-19 treatment in real-world clinical practice during the Omicron variant-dominant period. Patients with known risk factors for disease progression and increasing disease severity were enrolled in the study within the first 7 days of symptom onset.

The most common etiologic cause of SJS/TEN is drug-induced mechanisms. Assessment of homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) status is now essential for ovarian cancer patient management. The aim of our study was to analyze the influence of ethnic variations, tumor purity, and neoadjuvant chemotherapy (CT) on the determination of HRD scores as well as to evaluate feasibility of HRD testing with the Amoy HRD Focus Assay in routine clinical practice. The HRD status, including the status and genomic scar score (GSS), was analyzed in 452 ovarian cancer specimens.

The most relevant technique for portable (on-chip) sensors is Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS). This strategy crashes in the case of large (biorelevant) molecules and nano-objects, whose SERS spectra are irreproducible for "homeopathic" concentrations. We suggested solving this problem by SERS-mapping.

Materials And Methods: The functional state of a solitary kidney in 36 patients with renal cancer who undergone to radical nephrectomy was evaluated.
In addition to exhibited antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity, fullerene C60 is a promising wound healing agent. An important stage in the production of fullerene-based ointments is the stability of the aqueous fullerene dispersion (AFD) with minimum size of colloidal fullerene aggregates and sufficiently high concentration. To achieve these parameters tangential flow filtration of fullerene C60 was used ("green technology").

Considering the process of high-frequency glow discharge formation on the surface of an electrode and in an electrolyte solution, we obtained the results on the destruction of renal calculi in vitro. It was shown that the destruction of kidney stones by glow discharge plasma was caused by several processes-the plasma induced effect of hydrated electrons and shock wave effect of the electrolyte stimulated by electrical breakdowns in the plasma.
