This study investigated the effect of endodontic treatment on root resorption of autotransplanted and allotransplanted mature teeth in unmatched monkeys. The material comprised 40 mature maxillary central incisors in 20 green Vervet monkeys (Cercopithecus aethiops). Teeth were either allotransplanted or autotransplanted in pairs of monkeys matched only for the size of the root.

Results were generally in accord with those of other studies.

All strains were resistant to 1600 micrograms/ml of sulfasalazine and 5-aminosalicylic acid. MIC range of sulfapyridine for Y.

The CF strains were more resistant to all drugs tested and differed greatly in susceptibility pattern from the BC strains.

The effect of an elevated carbon-dioxide tension on medium pH and MIC determination with erythromycin for Staphylococcus aureus (ATCC 25923) and Escherichia coli (ATCC 25922) was investigated in a micro-aerobic atmosphere, using an agar dilution method. During 30 h of incubation in an atmosphere containing approximately 6% CO2, 5% O2 and 89% N2, pH of uninoculated, as well as of seeded, blood agar plates decreased from 7.4 to 6.

The in vitro susceptibility of recent Danish human clinical isolates of Campylobacter pyloridis to cimetidine, sucralfate, bismuth subsalicylate and sixteen antimicrobial agents was determined by an agar-dilution technique. Benzylpenicillin was the most active drug (MIC90 = 0.1 microgram/ml); ampicillin, erythromycin, gentamicin and ciprofloxacin were slightly less active.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA review is presented of the epidemiology of the common oral diseases other than dental caries and periodontal disease. It appears that conditions, such as masticatory dysfunction, traumatic dental and maxillofacial injuries, impactions and oral mucosal disease each normally affect one-quarter to one-half of populations examined. To plan and achieve total oral health care, it is, therefore, necessary to take these conditions into account.

Height and weight were measured and dental and skeletal maturity assessed immediately after arrival and one year later. Increase in dental age was in complete concordance with the time interval between the two examinations.

The effect of preincubation in enriched tissue culture medium was also investigated. 2 different freezing rates were compared, and the effect of stepwise equilibration of DMSO was studied as well as the effect of root canal treatment.

Maxillary central incisors, mandibular lateral incisors and first and second mandibular molars were used in this experiment. On one side, the tooth was extracted and replanted with an intact root while the contralateral tooth had 2 mm of the apex resected for the purpose of facilitating pulpal repair and eliminating resorption in the resorption-prone region of the root.
