Background: Real-world studies on fremanezumab, an anti-calcitonin gene-related peptide monoclonal antibody for migraine prevention, are few and with limited follow-up.
Objective: We aimed to evaluate the long-term (up to 52 weeks) effectiveness and tolerability of fremanezumab in high-frequency episodic migraine and chronic migraine.
Methods: This s an independent, prospective, multicenter cohort study enrolling outpatients in 17 Italian Headache Centers with high-frequency episodic migraine or chronic migraine and multiple preventive treatment failures.
Introduction: Although migraine prevalence decreases with aging, some older patients still suffer from chronic migraine (CM). This study aimed to investigate the outcome of OnabotulinumtoxinA (OBT-A) as preventative therapy in elderly CM patients.
Methods: This is a post hoc analysis of real-life prospectively collected data at 16 European headache centers on CM patients treated with OBT-A over the first three treatment cycles (i.

Introduction: Migraine is mostly a female disorder because of its lower prevalence in men. Less than 20% of patients included in the available studies on migraine treatments are men; hence, the evidence on migraine treatments might not apply to men. The aims of the present study were to provide reliable information on the effectiveness of onabotulinumtoxinA (BT-A) for chronic migraine in men and to compare clinical benefits between men and women.

The aim of the present study was to identify the clinical conditions and echocardiographic parameters associated with in-hospital mortality in COVID-19.
Methods: This is a multicentre retrospective observational study including seven Italian centres.
In this study, a new scaffold fabrication method based on the combination of a series of stabilization processes was set up to obtain chitosan scaffolds with improved mechanical properties for regeneration of load-bearing tissues. Specifically, thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) of chitosan solutions was used to obtain an open structure which was then stabilized by freeze-gelation and photo cross-linking. Freeze-gelation combined with freeze-drying permitted to obtain a porous structure with a 95 μm-mean pore size suitable for osteoblast cells' housing.

Methods: We performed a retrospective analysis on real-life prospectively collected data in 16 European headache centers.
Tissue engineering is a highly interdisciplinary field of medicine aiming at regenerating damaged tissues by combining cells with porous scaffolds materials. Scaffolds are templates for tissue regeneration and should ensure suitable cell adhesion and mechanical stability throughout the application period. Chitosan (CS) is a biocompatible polymer highly investigated for scaffold preparation but suffers from poor mechanical strength.

The development of efficacious antimicrobial/antifouling materials may help with addressing such an issue. In this framework, polyethylene glycol (PEG)-grafted segmented polyurethanes were synthesized, physico-chemically characterized, and evaluated with respect to their bacterial fouling-resistance properties.

Subjects And Methods: We determined serum leptin values in 58 healthy infants and leptin values in their mothers' breast milk, using radioimmunoassay (RIA). Infant and maternal anthropometrics were measured.

Background: Multi-element interventions for first-episode psychosis (FEP) are promising, but have mostly been conducted in non-epidemiologically representative samples, thereby raising the risk of underestimating the complexities involved in treating FEP in 'real-world' services.
Methods/design: The Psychosis early Intervention and Assessment of Needs and Outcome (PIANO) trial is part of a larger research program (Genetics, Endophenotypes and Treatment: Understanding early Psychosis - GET UP) which aims to compare, at 9 months, the effectiveness of a multi-component psychosocial intervention versus treatment as usual (TAU) in a large epidemiologically based cohort of patients with FEP and their family members recruited from all public community mental health centers (CMHCs) located in two entire regions of Italy (Veneto and Emilia Romagna), and in the cities of Florence, Milan and Bolzano. The GET UP PIANO trial has a pragmatic cluster randomized controlled design.

B-cell-type chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B-CLL) patients have immunological abnormalities of both B and T lymphocytes. Since T cell defects might depend upon a defective accessory function of neoplastic B lymphocytes, we analyzed the ability of peripheral blood B cells of seven B-CLL patients to stimulate allogenic normal T cells in mixed lymphocyte reaction (MLR) and to present tetanus toxoid (TT) to autologous T cells. In both systems, neoplastic B lymphocytes show a defective antigen-presenting function, which is more evident with disease progression.
