Importance of Geriatric Syndromes in Older Patients with Diabetes with de novo Insulin Treatment: The VEGAS Study.

Aims: The VEGAS study was conducted to evaluate representative data of de novo insulin-treated older patients with type 2 diabetes in the outpatient setting in Germany.

Methods: In this prospective, multicenter, non-interventional observational study, a nationwide written survey was carried out among practitioners (02/2011-06/2011). Older patients, aged ≥70 years, starting de novo insulin therapy, were documented.
