Open Ankle Injury without Associated Fracture or Dislocation Requiring Surgical Intervention: A Case Report.

Introduction: Bony and ligamentous ankle injuries are some of the most commonly treated injuries by orthopedic surgeons. Open ligamentous ankle injuries without an associated fracture or dislocation are rare and to our knowledge have only sparsely been described in the literature. We present a case and successful treatment of an open lateral ankle injury with capsular rupture and ligamentous damage without fracture or dislocation in a 22-year-old female.

Tibial Eminence Fracture and Pediatric ACL Avulsion Diagnosis and Treatment: A Case Report.

Introduction: Tibial eminence fractures resulting from the avulsion of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) insertion are a common knee injury in the pediatric population. This injury is traditionally corrected through internal fixation using a guide pin and a cannulated screw. Due to the reported consequences of cannulated screws impinging on the joint space, we explored an alternative procedure to address this injury without the use of cannulated screws.

Introduction: The posterior capsule of the knee plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of the knee joint. Pathologies involving the posterior capsule have been implicated in developing flexion contractures. Posterior capsulotomy is a well-studied modality for this issue, performed through either an open or arthroscopic approach.

Silent Myocardial Infarction and Acute Multiorgan Failure in a COVID-19 Patient: A Case Report.

Silent myocardial infarction or unrecognized myocardial infarction has increased prevalence in elderly population with increased cardiovascular risk factors. However, its prevalence in COVID-19 patients is not well-known. A 77-year-old Caucasian male with COVID-19 pneumonia, presented with silent ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction, diabetic ketoacidosis and multiorgan failure.

Cells respond to environmental stress in multiple ways. In the germ line, heat shock and nutritive stress trigger the assembly of large ribonucleoprotein (RNP) granules via liquid-liquid phase separation (LLPS). The RNP granules are hypothesized to maintain the quality of oocytes during stress.
