Introduction: Although uterine Natural Killer (uNK) cells have cytoplasmic granules rich in perforin and granzymes, these cells do not degranulate in normal pregnancy. DBA lectin(+) uNK cells produce angiogenic factors which stimulate remodeling of uterine arterioles to increase blood flow within the growing feto-placental unit. We sought to investigate the importance of COX-2 on mouse pregnancy inoculated with Gram-negative bacteria Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) by treating with a selective COX-2 inhibitor (nimesulide).

Introduction: Follistatin-like-1 (FSTL1) is a widely expressed secreted protein with diverse but poorly understood functions. Originally described as a pro-inflammatory molecule, it has recently been reported to play a role in signaling pathways that regulate development and homeostasis. Distinctively, FSTL1 harbors within its 3'-UTR the sequence encoding microRNA-198 (miR-198), shown to be inversely regulated relative to FSTL1 expression and to exhibit opposite actions on cellular processes such as cell migration.

Objective: To determine the prevalence of anxiety and gestational depression and to determine the risk factors associated to its development.

Method: Pregnant women during their third quarter of pregnancy were invited to participate to the study, and they signed an informed consent form. After that, they filled in a general assessment questionnaire in which socio-economical and obstetrical characteristics together with general health conditions and behaviors harmful for the pregnancy were evaluated.
