Purpose: A computer-assisted surgical system must provide up-to-date and accurate information of the patient's anatomy during the procedure to improve clinical outcome. It is therefore essential to consider the tissue deformations, and a patient-specific biomechanical model (PBM) is usually adopted. The predictive capability of the PBM is highly influenced by proper definition of attachments to the surrounding anatomy, which are difficult to estimate preoperatively.

Background: CA125 has emerged as a surrogate of fluid overload and inflammatory status in AHF. After an episode of AHF admission, elevated values of this marker at baseline as well as its longitudinal profile relate to adverse outcomes, making it a potential tool for treatment guiding.
Introduction And Objectives: Morbidity and mortality after admission for acute heart failure remain prohibitively high. In that setting, plasma levels of antigen carbohydrate 125 have shown to correlate with the severity of fluid overload and the risk of mortality and readmission. Preliminary data suggests a potential role of antigen carbohydrate 125 to guide therapy.

Methods: A computer-assisted (PubMed) search of the literature was performed to identify all cases of transverse myelitis affecting more than 4 spinal segments secondary to SLE from 1966 to April 2008. In addition, we present 2 previously unreported cases of SLE patients with transverse myelitis affecting more than 4 spinal segments.
We review the case of a 74-year-old patient with advanced colon cancer who suffered recurrent bouts of hypoglycemia. A state of inappropriate, non-suppressed hyperinsulinism in the presence of severe hypoglycemia was diagnosed. We finally discuss the known mechanisms behind fasting hypoglycemia in patients with advanced cancer, the diagnosis, and possible treatments of this rare paraneoplastic endocrine complication.
