The effect of local delivery of strontium ranelate (SR) on bone regeneration of critical size bone defects filled with collagen sponge was evaluated. Bone defects of 5 mm diameter created in rat calvaria were filled with collagen sponge (C); collagen sponge with 5 mM Sr SR (C5SR) or collagen sponge with 50 mM Sr SR (C50SR). After 2, 4, and 6 weeks, bone volume (BV), bone surface (BS), trabecular thickness (Tb.

Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were obtained by reduction of silver nitrate with sodium borohydride and characterized by UV-Visible spectrophotometry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). The antimicrobial activity of nanoparticle formulation was evaluated by determinations of the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) against different bacterial species by the microdilution method, according to recommendations of the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).

Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare the gelatinolytic activity of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-2 and MMP-9 and the expression of tissue inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinase (TIMP)-2 and myeloperoxidase protein (MPO) in clinically healthy human pulp and inflamed pulp tissue specimens.
Methods: Twenty dental pulps clinically diagnosed as inflammatory tissues and 20 healthy pulp tissues from enclosed third molars were harvested and evaluated. The gelatinolytic activity for MMP-2 and MMP-9 was assessed by using the zymography technique, TIMP-2 gene expression was evaluated using the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, and MPO was determined using the MPO assay.
Introduction: Concomitance of chronic periodontitis (CP) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) have been associated with adverse outcomes. Vitamin D (25(OH)D) deficiency my play a role in CP and inadequate vitamin D status is common among patients with CKD.
Objective: To examine the relationship between vitamin 25(OH)D and CP in patients with CKD not yet on dialysis.
Unlabelled: Furcation involvement in periodontal disease has been a challenge for the dentist.
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate root dimensions in the furcation area of 233 mandibular first molars.
Material And Methods: Digital photomicrographs were used to obtain the following measurements on the buccal and lingual surfaces of each tooth: root trunk height (RT), horizontal interadicular distance obtained 1 mm (D1) and 2 mm (D2) below the fornix and interadicular angle (IA).
