Health promotion and prevention in early times of the COVID-19 pandemic: insights from a Delphi study in Switzerland.

Background: COVID-19 pandemic and confinement measures had a major impact on the health and well-being of the population. Health promotion and prevention (HP&P) professionals had to rethink their practices to respond to the challenges raised by the pandemic context. This study aimed to build a professional consensus on the HP&P priorities (apart from the COVID-19 fight) in the early times of the pandemic in Switzerland and to identify the most relevant interventions to respond to these issues.

Implementation of Interprofessional Meetings Preparing Caregivers of Patients With Brain Injury for Discharge: A Pilot Study.

Purpose Of Study: Caregivers are often unprepared to care for patients discharged with brain injury. Interprofessional team meetings with the caregiver used in some specialties improve discharge planning. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of a standardized interprofessional caregiver meeting on caregiver readiness for caregiving.

Communication Patterns During Routine Patient Care in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit: The Behavioral Impact of In Situ Simulation.

Objective: Effective communication minimizes medical errors and leads to improved team performance while treating critically ill patients. Closed-loop communication is routinely applied in high-risk industries but remains underutilized in healthcare. Simulation serves as an educational tool to introduce, practice, and appreciate the efficacy of closed-loop communication.

Internalising dietary norms and transforming food practices: social inequalities in the management of childhood obesity.

Over the last two decades, childhood obesity has emerged as a major public health issue in Switzerland. Health professionals and public health organisations now frame this condition as a disease that requires medical intervention. In this article, I report the findings of an ethnographic study conducted in a Swiss hospital program for the management of childhood obesity.

[Towards proportionate universalism in health promotion and prevention : reflections and courses of action].

This article addresses the issue of health inequalities and the measures allowing to reduce them. Starting from the observation that, in Switzerland like in the rest of the world, health gaps between the riches and the poorest are still very marked, this article questions the role that health promotion and prevention can play in the fight against this phenomenon. The main approaches allowing to reduce inequalities are presented and illustrated with examples : the universal approach, the targeted approach and proportionate universalism.

A multicenter evaluation of a point of care CRP Test.

Background: Point-of-care (POC) C-reactive protein (CRP) testing in the primary healthcare setting is a cost-effective approach for reducing antibiotic prescriptions, but has yet to be widely adopted.

Methods: Analytical performance of the cobas CRP Test on the cobas b 101 system was evaluated at three POC sites and one reference laboratory. Within-run (repeatability), within-laboratory (intermediate precision), and between-laboratory precision (reproducibility) were assessed.

Patients' autonomy as a negotiated order: an ethnographic perspective on the clinical management of childhood obesity.

The principle of patients' autonomy has assumed a central place in healthcare. Patients are encouraged to play an active role in the management of their health, especially when they are affected by chronic illnesses that require long-term follow-up.
