Introduction: Gutta-percha combined with an endodontic sealer remains the most widely used obturation technique. Bioceramic sealers (BS) were developed for root canal obturation in combination with gutta-percha cones using the cold single-cone technique. Few studies have assessed the effect of thermal treatment on the performance of BS.

Given the low rates of Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination initiation and timely series completion in 11- and 12-year old children, we sought to assess potential opportunities for initiating routine vaccination at a younger age. A cross-sectional study of Latino parents of HPV vaccine-eligible 9- or 10-year-old children in New York City assessed whether there were opportunities to discuss the HPV vaccine during their most recent primary care provider (PCP) visit. Parents were approached between November, 2016 and January, 2018.

The aim of this study was to determine Vickers microhardness (HV) in bulk fill resins at different depths. Test specimens were prepared with different bulk fill resins: Filtek Bulk-Fill (3M ESPE) [FBF], Surefill SDR flow (Dentsply) [SDR], Fill-UP (COLTENE) [FU] and Surefill (Dentsply) [SF]. Semi-cylindrical test specimens were prepared in a mold 6 mm in diameter and 4 mm thick (n=5).

Materials used were Filtek Bulk Fill (FBF) and Z350 (both 3M-ESPE) and Surefil SDR flow (SFF) - Dentsply. To determine shear bond strength, cylindrical specimens 10 mm thick were prepared with composite consisting of thicknesses of 6 mm of one material and 4 mm of the other, in the following combinations: G1: FBF- FBF; G2: Z350-Z350, G3: FBF-Z350, G4: Z350-SFF and G5: SFFSFF.

Fifteen previously sandblasted metal boxes were attached to a universal mechanical testing machine (INSTRON 1011, Instron Corporation). Five of these boxes were filled with Filtek Z350 XT (FXT) Universal Restorative A2 (3M ESPE) (Group 1 or Control).

A descriptive study was performed using two models. In the first model, primary teeth (ex vivo) with enamel-dentin caries, without pulp involvement and previously treated with 38% SDF, were evaluated by means of two techniques: (a) Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive X-ray detector (EDS) to determine qualitative and quantitative composition, and (b) brightfield optical microscopy (OM) after decalcification.

A permanent tooth without clinical MIH lesions (control) and a tooth with clinical diagnosis of mild and moderate MIH, with indication for extraction, were processed with and without acid etching (H3PO4 37%, 20") for observation with scanning electron microscope (SEM) ZEISS (Supra 40) and mineral composition analysis with an EDS detector (Oxford Instruments). The control enamel showed normal prismatic surface and etching pattern.

The aim of this study was to evaluate in vitro the marginal microleakage of two glass ionomer materials used as pit and fissure sealants. Thirty healthy premolars extracted for orthodontic treatment were randomly assigned to two groups (n=15) and respectively sealed with two glass ionomers (Group I, Fuji VII and Group II, Fuji IX). All teeth were preserved in artificial saliva (NAF) for 10 days, thermocycled (250 cycles; 5 °C, 37 °C and 60 °C), isolated, and immersed in 2% alcohol gentian violet blue solution for 24 h.

Hence, we set out to investigate the frictional resistance exerted by different lingual and labial brackets, including both conventional and self-ligating designs. The effect of various factors, namely bracket/base width, slot size, inter-bracket distance, and first- (ΘcI) and second-order (ΘcII) critical contact angles were evaluated and compared.

Methods: One hundred sixty premolars and four types of commercially available lingual brackets (STB, ORG, Magic, and Stealth) were selected. Forty brackets per manufacturer were used, half bonded directly and half indirectly.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical behavior of two conventional glass ionomers used for pit and fissure sealing in terms of retention, marginal adaptation, caries recurrence and cracking. Eighty-three fully erupted first permanent molars were sealed, in a group of children aged 5 to 8 years. A double-blind, single operator, paired design was used.

The authors used positron emission tomography to measure cerebral glucose metabolism in 43 people with age-associated memory impairment to determine relationships between memory self-appraisal and brain function. People with lower frontal metabolism during a resting state reported more frequent prior mnemonics usage, a measure of memory self-appraisal. A multiple regression analysis indicated that reported mnemonics usage was the most significant predictor of left (P = 0.
