Edge-and-corner (E&C) pathology is defined as clinically relevant findings in diagnostic imaging that are located at the physical periphery of studies and thus easily overlooked. Satisfaction of search is a perceptive interpretation error which can compound the difficulty of detecting E&C lesions. Guiding veterinary students to systematically identify these lesions would likely benefit their training, and the authors sought to determine whether teaching the concept of satisfaction of search could influence students' ability to detect E&C lesions.

Japanese encephalitis virus (JEV) is associated with encephalitis in humans and reproductive and neurological illness in pigs. JEV has expanded beyond its native distribution in southeast Asia, with identifications in Europe (2010) and Africa (2016), and most recently, its spread into mainland Australia (2021-2022). The introduction of JEV into the United States (US) is a public health risk, and could also impact animal health and the food supply.

Purpose: To describe clinical features, risk factors, and outcomes of patients with perineal and perianal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Methods: The records of 51 patients (38 perineal and 13 perianal) enrolled on Children's Oncology Group clinical trials between 1997 and 2012 were reviewed.

Results: At presentation, 53% were female, 65% were older than 10 years of age, 76% were alveolar histology, 76% were more than 5 cm, 84% were invasive, 65% were regional node positive by imaging, 49% were metastatic, only 16% were grossly resected upfront, and 25% of patients had a delayed excision.

This article briefly summarizes trust as a multi-dimensional construct, and trust in AI as a unique but related construct. It argues that because trust in AI is couched within an economic landscape, these two frameworks should be combined to understand the dynamics of trust in AI as it is currently implemented. The review focuses on healthcare and law enforcement as two industries that have adopted AI in ways that do and do not engender trust from stakeholders.

Objective: The objective of this study was to summarize peer-reviewed literature on the prevalence and concentration of non-O157 STEC (O26, O45, O103, O111, O121, and O145) serogroups and virulence genes ( and ) in fecal, hide, and carcass samples in pre- and peri-harvest cattle worldwide, using a systematic review of the literature and meta-analyses.

Data Synthesis: Seventy articles were eligible for meta-analysis inclusion; data from 65 articles were subjected to random-effects meta-analysis models to yield fecal prevalence estimates. Meta-regression models were built to explore variables contributing to the between-study heterogeneity.

Objective: To collect information from US state animal health officials (SAHOs) and beef feedlot managers and veterinarians regarding emergency response plans for movement of cattle in the event of a foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) outbreak in North America.

Sample: 36 SAHOs, 26 feedlot veterinarians, and 7 feedlot managers.

Procedures: 3 versions of an electronic questionnaire were created and distributed to SAHOs and US feedlot veterinarians and managers to gather information about planned or expected responses to an FMD outbreak that originated at 1 of 3 geographic locations (Mexico or Canada, a bordering state, or a nonbordering state).

Genomic-based epidemiology can provide insight into the origins and spread of herbicide resistance mechanisms in weeds. We used kochia (Bassia scoparia) populations resistant to the herbicide glyphosate from across western North America to test the alternative hypotheses that (i) a single EPSPS gene duplication event occurred initially in the Central Great Plains and then subsequently spread to all other geographical areas now exhibiting glyphosate-resistant kochia populations or that (ii) gene duplication occurred multiple times in independent events in a case of parallel evolution. We used qPCR markers previously developed for measuring the structure of the EPSPS tandem duplication to investigate whether all glyphosate-resistant individuals had the same EPSPS repeat structure.

Premise Of The Study: Direct tests of a species distribution model (SDM) were used to evaluate the hypothesis that the northern and southern edges of 's geographical range are limited by temperature and precipitation.

Methods: Climatic suitability was predicted using an SDM informed only by temperature and precipitation variables. These predictions were tested by growing plants in growth chambers with temperature and watering treatments informed by weather stations characteristic of environments at the geographic center, edges, and outside the range.

The abundant centre hypothesis (ACH) assumes that population abundance, population size, density and per-capita reproductive output should peak at the centre of a species' geographic range and decline towards the periphery. Increased isolation among and decreased reproductive output within edge populations should reduce within-population genetic diversity and increase genetic differentiation among edge relative to central populations. The ACH also predicts asymmetrical gene flow, with net movement of migrants from the centre to edges.

Purpose: We assessed the effect of darifenacin, an M3 selective receptor antagonist, on the warning time associated with urinary urgency.

Materials And Methods: In this multicenter, double-blind study subjects with urinary urgency for 6 months or greater and episodes of urgency 4 times or greater daily were randomized to darifenacin controlled release tablets (30 mg once daily) or placebo. Warning time was defined as the time from the first sensation of urgency to voluntary micturition or incontinence.
