This paper aims to describe a rare case of cochlear implant (CI) failure due to electrode array migration and review the literature on the topic. A 72-year-old woman complained of retroauricolar pain two years after receiving a left CI, with deterioration of the auditory skills and an increased impedance of electrodes. Temporal bone computed tomographic scans revealed a soft density tissue involving the left mastoid and the middle ear.

Background: Dyspnea secondary to acute upper airways airflow limitation (UAAFL) represents a clinical emergency that can be difficult to recognize without a suitable history; even when etiology is known, parameters to assess the severity are unclear and often improperly used.

Objectives: The aim of this study was to assess the role of peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO) as a predictor of severity of upper airway obstruction.

Methods: The authors propose an experimental model of upper airway obstruction by a progressive increase of UAAFL.

Purpose: To present the clinical features of patients with parotid gland metastasis, and compare the results with previously published series. Methods: The medical records of patients with parotid gland metastasis, treated at the ENT Department of the University Hospital of Ferrara, between January 1st 1965 and December 31th 2014, were retrospectively reviewed.
