This study aimed to assess the traumatic dental injuries (TDIs) in permanent dentition among patients who attended at the outpatient clinic of a Brazilian dental school, during the last 20 years, and to investigate factors associated with the severity of these injuries. Clinical records of patients who attended a specialized center for dental trauma care in Brazil presenting at least one TDI in a permanent tooth, between the years 2000 and 2019, were reviewed. The data recorded were sex, age, affected arch, etiology, number, and type of the teeth affected, and classification and severity of the TDIs.

The present study compared, through real-time polymerase chain reaction (qPCR), the effectiveness of TRUShape (TS) (Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK) and Vortex Blue (VB) (Dentsply Tulsa Dental Specialties, Tulsa, OK) in removing () from the mesial canals and isthmuses of mandibular molars. Fifty extracted human lower molars were inoculated with OG1RF for 14 days, and then an initial bacterial sample was collected with paper points from mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals and isthmuses.

Methods: Ten bovine central incisors were selected and 4 slices (1.0 ± 0.
Introduction: More data are needed before affirming that single-visit approaches are effective and safe for regenerative endodontic procedures (REPs). This study compared clinical and radiographic outcomes of REPs between interappointment dressing or single-visit protocols.
Methods: Twenty young patients presenting traumatized immature teeth with pulp necrosis were divided into 2 groups.
Objectives: To investigate the presence of Streptococcus mutans in root canals of symptomatic necrotic teeth (SNT) and their associated acute apical abscesses (AAA) and in the root canals of asymptomatic necrotic teeth (ANT). It also aimed to investigate the presence of the cnm and cbm genes in specimens that harbored S. mutans.

Clinical and radiological data were collected from 44 treated teeth (22 with apexification and 22 with regenerative endodontic procedure). The preoperative and follow-up periapical radiographs were analysed to calculate the percentage changes in root length, root width, apical diameter and apical angle.

Objective: Pulp revascularization is an effective treatment for immature necrotic teeth. Calcium hydroxide has been used in pulp revascularization as an intracanal medication due to its antimicrobial action and the non-exhibition of crown discoloration and cytotoxicity for stem cells from the apical papilla. Our study aimed to investigate the clinical success and quantitative radiographic changes of root development in immature traumatized teeth using calcium hydroxide plus 2% chlorhexidine gel as intracanal medication.

Methods: Root canal samples of 15 necrotic immature teeth were analyzed by quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Bacteria were counted before treatment (S1), after irrigation with 6% sodium hypochlorite (S2), and after intracanal dressing (S3) using either triple antibiotic paste (n = 7) or calcium hydroxide with chlorhexidine (n = 8).
Objectives: The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the effect of calcium hydroxide with 2% chlorhexidine gel (HCX) or distilled water (HCA) compared to triple antibiotic paste (TAP) on push-out bond strength and the cement/dentin interface in canals sealed with White MTA Angelus (WMTA) or Biodentine (BD).
Materials And Methods: A total of 70 extracted human lower premolars were endodontically prepared and randomly divided into 4 groups according to the intracanal medication, as follows: group 1, HCX; group 2, TAP; group 3, HCA; and group 4, control (without intracanal medication). After 7 days, the medications were removed and the cervical third of the specimens was sectioned into five 1-mm sections.
This retrospective study evaluated the frequency of development of root resorption in dental trauma cases involving supporting tissue. For 249 traumatized teeth of 125 patients aged between 7 and 51 years, we collected data on the gender and age of the patient, the teeth involved, the type of trauma, and the period between dental injury and initial examination. Radiographic parameters examined in relation to root resorption included the presence of inflammatory external root resorption, internal root resorption, replacement resorption, and canal calcification.

Here we describe the management of a maxillary left lateral permanent incisor that suffered lateral luxation, leading to pulp necrosis and root resorption, in a 13-year-old boy. The traumatized tooth was treated successfully by intracanal medication with calcium hydroxide, 2% chlorhexidine gel and zinc oxide for 12 months without any need to change the dressing, followed by conventional root canal filling.

Material And Methods: The study sample consisted of bone implant sites from the jawbones of 32 volunteers, which were classified according to two different systems: (1) based only on periapical and panoramic images (PP); (2) as proposed by Lekholm & Zarb (L&Z). Bone biopsies were removed using trephine during the first drilling for implant placement.
Objectives: To survey definitions of bone tissue characteristics and methods of assessing them in studies of dental implant planning and placement.
Material And Methodology: Three databases were searched using specified indexing terms. Three reviewers selected from the titles and retrieved abstracts in accordance with inclusion and exclusion criteria.

Introduction: Common variable immunodeficiency is characterized by defective antibody production and recurrent pulmonary infections. Intravenous immunoglobulin is the treatment of choice, but the effects of Intravenous immunoglobulin on pulmonary defense mechanisms are poorly understood.
Objective: The aim of this study was to verify the impact of intravenous immunoglobulin on the physical properties of the sputum and on inflammatory alterations in the airways of patients with Common variable immunodeficiency associated with bronchiectasis.
