Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the effectiveness of the pectoralis muscle sling in providing long-term support for breast parenchyma after breast reduction surgery, particularly its impact on the bottoming-out effect.
  • A total of 21 female patients underwent a vertical breast reduction, with half receiving the muscle sling and the other half serving as a control group without it, followed by extensive radiological evaluations over 10 years.
  • Findings showed that patients with the muscle sling experienced significantly less migration of the breast flaps over time, indicating that the sling offers better and more durable support for maintaining flap position.
