A hyaluronic acid-based micro-filler improves superficial wrinkles and skin quality: a randomized prospective controlled multicenter study.

Background: NCTF®135HA is a bio-revitalizing solution containing hyaluronic acid designed to compensate for skin dehydration, fatigue, and fine wrinkles associated with endogenous and environmental aging.

Methods: We conducted a randomized, active-controlled study to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of NCTF®135HA injections on the face (crow's feet), neck, and décolleté regions. Subjects were randomly assigned (3:1) to receive three NCTF®135HA treatment sessions plus twice-daily anti-aging moisturizer cream or cream alone (control).

Objective 18-month Comparison of the Tolerability of 2 Dermal Fillers Formulated with Tri-Hyal Technology.

Unlabelled: The first phase of this study showed that ART FILLER Universal filler (AFU; FILORGA Laboratories) and ART FILLER Fine lines (AFFL) were non-inferior to JUVÉDERM Ultra 3 (Allergan) and FIRST LINES PureSense (Teoxane), respectively. The clinical benefits of AFU and AFFL on nasolabial folds and crow's feet persisted until at least Day 180. This article reports results from an open-label extension phase that assessed the tolerability and efficacy of AFU and AFFL for up to 18 months based on clinical evaluation and ultrasound high-frequency imaging.

Evaluation of short-term efficacy of extraspinal cementoplasty for bone metastasis: A monocenter study of 31 patients.

Objective: To study the effect on pain of per-cutaneous cementoplasty for painful extraspinal bone metastasis.

Method: 43 patients with extraspinal bone metastasis were included between April 2006 and October 2014 in this retrospective monocenter study. The primary endpoint was pain level measured on a 0-10 numeric rating scale at week 1 after cementoplasty as compared with pre-cementoplasty.

Background: There are requirements for long-term, objective comparisons of hyaluronic acid (HA) dermal fillers.

Nicolau syndrome due to hyaluronic acid injections.

Six cases of vascular compromise after hyaluronic injection are reported. Clinical symptoms realized a Nicolau syndrome, which is characterized by immediate pain, livedoid pattern and a few days later by the appearance of scabs and skin necrosis. This type of complication is rare, but may be dramatic and injectors must be aware of that.

Alginate (novabel): a new class of injectable filler.

A new class of biodegradable, injectable filler made of alginate, Novabel (Merz Aesthetics, Merz Pharma, UK), was launched in the European market in 2010. This product was supposed to be perfect to fill hollow eye rings and practitioners were immediately enthusiastic. Unfortunately, complications occurred as firm inflammatory nodules after a few months.

Angioedema after ovine hyaluronidase injection for treating hyaluronic acid overcorrection.

Background: Hyaluronic acid injections are becoming popular in aesthetic dermatology, and, sometimes, misplacements and very rarely adverse events have been reported. Hyaluronidase, an enzyme that hydrolyzes hyaluronic acid, is used to treat overcorrection or granulomatous reactions. Allergic reactions are well known except for how frequent they occur.

Side-effects of L-dopa on venous tone in Parkinson's disease: a leg-weighing assessment.

In the present study, the effects of L-dopa treatment on cardiovascular variables and peripheral venous tone were assessed in 13 patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) with Hoehn and Yahr stages 1-4. Patients were investigated once with their regular treatment and once after 12 h of interruption of L-dopa treatment. L-Dopa intake significantly reduced systolic and diastolic blood pressure, heart rate and plasma noradrenaline and adrenaline in both the supine and upright (60 degrees ) positions.
