The aim of the study was to evaluate the use of Acustic Radiation Force Impulse (ARFI) elastography in mammary parenchyma and supramammary lymph nodes, for detection of active mastitis in sheep with naturally infected chronic fibrous lesions. 27 female sheep were included and B-mode ultrasound and ARFI elastography images were obtained, acquiring qualitative (echogenicity and echotexture) and quantitative (shear rate, depth and short/long axis ratio) variables of 48 mammary glands. The glands were divided into three experimental groups: control group (CG) - healthy animals; LSCC- animals that presented fibrous lesions and SCC (somatic cell count) less than 500 x 10 cls/mL; HSCC: animals that presented fibrous lesions and SCC (somatic cell count) more than 500 x 10 cls/mL; The qualitative variables using B-mode ultrasonography, including echotexture and echogenicity, showed no significant differences between the evaluated groups and tissues (p = 0.

In response to acute injury there is hepatic overproduction of several proteins known as acute phase proteins (APP). Few studies have evaluated protein fractionation to characterize the inflammatory response in acute laminitis.

Buffaloes and pigs play an important epidemiological roll in the infection cycle, and asymptomatic animals can act as key component in the dissemination of the disease by horizontal, vertical, and cross-species transmission. Our study aimed and was able to confirm evidences of a cross-species transmission of Agona between asymptomatic buffaloes and pigs. Also, we described infection within the pig production phases, involving serotypes Agona, Senftenberg and Schwarzengrund.

The study aimed to evaluate clinical signs, blood serum acute phase proteins (APP) and iron dynamics during the acute phase response (APR) of Salmonella Dublin experimentally infected Murrah buffalo calves. Six buffalo calves constituted the control group (CNT) and six were orally inoculate with 10 CFU of S. Dublin (INF).

Objectives: This study establishes blood gas and serum biochemical RIs of newborn buffaloes.
Background: Preauthorisation is a control mechanism that is used by Health Insurance Providers (HIPs) to minimise wastage of resources through the denial of the procedures that were unduly requested. However, an efficient preauthorisation process requires the round-the-clock presence of a preauthorisation reviewer, which increases the operating expenses of the HIP. In this context, the aim of this study was to learn the preauthorisation process using the dental set from an existing database of a non-profit HIP.

This is particularly important for milk samples which frequently need preservatives to retain milk composition as close to that found in freshly collected samples as possible.
Methods: Milk samples were treated by heating at 56 °C for 30 min or preserved by addition of either potassium dichromate or bronopol respectively.
Escherichia coli is the most common bacterial agent isolated from canine pyometra. The frequencies of 24 virulence genes and pulsed field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) profiles were determined for 23 E. coli isolates from cases of canine pyometra in Brazil.

Here, we present the first-generation whole genome RH map (WG-RH) of the river buffalo generated from cattle-derived markers. The RH maps aligned to bovine genome sequence assembly Btau_4.
