Mechanical Properties of Ultra-High-Performance Concrete with Steel and PVA Fibers.

Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) has gained worldwide popularity due to its high mechanical performance. This research studied the influence of adding a mixture of two fibers (steel and PVA) on the compressive strength, modulus of elasticity, and flexural tensile strength of UHPC. The mixtures were prepared by adding steel fibers and PVA fibers using a standard procedure defined in the research, which is the time to mix the dry materials and the time to mix the admixture and water.

Prevented cases of neural tube defects and cost savings after folic acid fortification of flour in Brazil.

Anencephaly, encephalocele, and spina bifida are congenital neural tube defects and are the main causes of neonatal morbidity and mortality and impose a heavy economic burden on health systems. This study to estimates the direct costs of neural tube defects from the perspective of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, and the prevented cases and cost savings during the period in which mandatory folic acid fortification was in effect in the country (2010-2019). It is a top-down cost-of-illness oriented study based on the prevalence of the disorders in Brazil.

Productive, metabolic and anatomical parameters of menthol mint are influenced by light intensity.

The cultivation of aromatic species to obtain essential oils has great economic importance, presenting an increasing demand from different industrial sectors, especially to menthol mint (Mentha arvensis L.) essential oil, rich in menthol (70-80%). Consortium cultivation has been an important practice in agricultural systems whose land use is necessary, consequently promoting strong competition for light in reduced space.
