Article Synopsis
  • Existing research has raised concerns about the effectiveness of patch testing (PT) for detecting drug hypersensitivity specifically related to cotrimoxazole (CTX).
  • This study aimed to evaluate how sensitive PT with CTX is for diagnosing non-immediate cutaneous adverse drug reactions (CADR) among patients.
  • The results revealed that there were no significant positive reactions to CTX in patch tests, indicating that this testing method may not be reliable for diagnosing CTX-related CADR, signaling a need for careful interpretation by clinicians.

Background: The viability of random skin flaps (RSFs) depends on an adequate perfusion pressure to avoid necrosis. Laser speckle contrast imaging is a new method to monitor skin flap microcirculation.

Objective: The authors aimed to use laser speckle contrast imaging in evaluating the correlation between the perfusion pressure and the length-to-width ratio (LTWR) of RSFs.

Elastosis perfurans serpiginosa is a rare perforating dermatosis found primarily in adolescents and young adults, characterized by transepidermal elimination of abnormal elastic fibers. The only drug known capable of inducing elastosis perfurans serpiginosa is D-penicillamine. We report the case of a 52 year-old woman with keratotic papules arranged in an annular pattern with central clearing and centrifugal growth, located in the anterior cervical region.

Background: Brooke-Spiegler syndrome (BSS) is probably an underdiagnosed genodermatosis that predisposes for the development of cylindromas, spiradenomas and trichoepitheliomas mainly of the head and neck. Wide phenotypic variability regarding the number and type of lesions can be observed within a family. Mutations of the CYLD gene are identified in the vast majority of cases and play a key role in BSS pathogenesis.
