Analogies and Relations between Non-Additive Entropy Formulas and Gintropy.

We explore formal similarities and mathematical transformation formulas between general trace-form entropies and the Gini index, originally used in quantifying income and wealth inequalities. We utilize the notion of gintropy introduced in our earlier works as a certain property of the Lorenz curve drawn in the map of the tail-integrated cumulative population and wealth fractions. In particular, we rediscover Tsallis' -entropy formula related to the Pareto distribution.

A Note on Representational Understanding.

In this paper, we explore a new approach in which understanding is interpreted as a set representation. We prove that understanding/representation, finding the appropriate coordination of data, is equivalent to finding the minimum of the representational entropy. For the control of the search for the correct representation, we propose a loss function as a combination of the representational entropy, type one and type two errors.

Manifold-adaptive dimension estimation revisited.

Data dimensionality informs us about data complexity and sets limit on the structure of successful signal processing pipelines. In this work we revisit and improve the manifold adaptive Farahmand-Szepesvári-Audibert (FSA) dimension estimator, making it one of the best nearest neighbor-based dimension estimators available. We compute the probability density function of local FSA estimates, if the local manifold density is uniform.

Relaxation of Some Confusions about Confounders.

This work is about observational causal discovery for deterministic and stochastic dynamic systems. We explore what additional knowledge can be gained by the usage of standard conditional independence tests and if the interacting systems are located in a geodesic space.

A multilayer and spatial description of the Erasmus mobility network.

The Erasmus Programme is the biggest collaboration network consisting of European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The flows of students, teachers and staff form directed and weighted networks that connect institutions, regions and countries. Here, we present a linked and manually verified dataset of this multiplex, multipartite, multi-labelled, spatial network.
