Background Symptomatic acute occlusions of the internal carotid artery (ICA) below the circle of Willis can cause a variety of stroke symptoms, even if the major intracranial cerebral arteries remain patent; however, outcome and safety data are limited. Purpose To compare treatment effects and procedural safety of endovascular treatment (EVT) and best medical treatment (BMT) in patients with symptomatic acute occlusions of the ICA below the circle of Willis. Materials and Methods This retrospective, multicenter cohort study from 22 comprehensive stroke centers in Europe and Asia includes patients treated between January 1, 2008, and December 31, 2022.

To complement evidence on these outcomes, there is a need to explore patients' perspectives of a structured ERP. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the health-related quality of life (HRQoL) of patients before and after implementing ERP in pancreaticoduodenectomy ad modum Whipple (PD) at a regional surgical centre.

Coronary computerized tomography (CT) angiography was performed in 25,859 subjects without a history of atherosclerotic disease from SCAPIS study (age 50-65, 52% women). TropI and NT-proBNP were measured in plasma.

Furthermore, comparisons are often made between population subgroups to explore inequalities in outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic routine delivery of health services were severely disrupted.

Traditionally, weather forecasts have been based on numerical weather prediction (NWP), which relies on physics-based simulations of the atmosphere. Recent advances in machine learning (ML)-based weather prediction (MLWP) have produced ML-based models with less forecast error than single NWP simulations.

Available diagnostic tools for IAI have poor diagnostic performance, which may result in both over- and underdiagnoses of IAI. In a search for better diagnostic tools, we have examined short-term variation (STV) in fetal heart rate.

Methods: EXCELLENT is a prospective, global registry of patients with acute ischemic stroke treated with EMBOTRAP as the first-line mechanical thrombectomy device conducted at 34 sites (25 sites contributing clot) from September 2018 to March 2021, utilizing core imaging and central histology laboratories blinded to clinical data, independent 90-day modified Rankin Scale assessment and Clinical Events Committee.
Results: After screening 3799 patients, a total of 997 subjects (mean age, 70.
The aim of this analysis was to assess the cost-effectiveness of the EmboTrap Revascularization Device compared with the Solitaire™ Revascularization Device and Trevo Retriever for the treatment of acute ischemic stroke (AIS) from the perspective of the Chinese healthcare system. According to MASTRO I, a recent living systematic literature review and meta-analysis, mechanical thrombectomy (MT) with EmboTrap in the treatment of AIS resulted in better functional outcomes compared with the use of Solitaire or Trevo. Based on the proportion of patients that achieved 90-day modified Rankin Scale (mRS) scores of 0-2, 3-5 and 6 reported in MASTRO I, a combined 90-day short-term decision tree and Markov model with a 10-year time horizon was used to compare the cost-effectiveness of the three devices.

The integration of large language models (LLMs) into healthcare highlights the need to ensure their efficacy while mitigating potential harms, such as the perpetuation of biases. Current evidence on the existence of bias within LLMs remains inconclusive. In this study, we present an approach to investigate the presence of bias within an LLM designed for mental health support.

In other circulatory beds, these technologies have transformed clinical and therapeutic decision-making. A new report demonstrates the clinical use of high-resolution intravascular imaging in the human cerebrovasculature using neuro optical coherence tomography.

Here, we have connected cell models of key metabolic organs, the pancreas and liver, on a microfluidic chip to enable diabetes research in a human-based in vitro system. Aided by mechanistic mathematical modeling, we demonstrate that hyperglycemia and high cortisone concentration induce glucose dysregulation in the pancreas-liver microphysiological system (MPS), mimicking a diabetic phenotype seen in patients with glucocorticoid-induced diabetes.

We assessed the incidence of infections by clinical characteristics and treatment both before and after MCL diagnosis in Sweden. Patients with a diagnosis of MCL ≥ 18 years between 2007 and 2019 were included, along with up to 10 matched comparators.

The purpose of this prospective study was to determine the prevalence of ECG abnormalities, describe levels of N-terminal proBNP (NT-proBNP), and establish their association with dyspnea at long-term follow-up after PE.
Design: All Swedish patients diagnosed with acute PE in 2005 ( = 5793) were identified through the Swedish National Patient Registry.
Objective: To assess a systematic implementation approach for introducing dapagliflozin to individuals with heart failure and reduced ejection fraction in an outpatient clinical setting.
Methods: Retrospective medical record data were analysed. All individuals diagnosed with heart failure who resided within the hospital catchment area and had visited cardiology or internal medicine department between 2010 and 2019 were screened by using the main inclusion criteria from the DAPA-HF trial.
Objective: The placement of flow-diverting devices has become a common method of treating unruptured intracranial aneurysms of the internal carotid artery. The progressive improvement of aneurysm occlusion after treatment-with low complication and rupture rates-has led to a dilemma regarding the management of aneurysms in which occlusion has not occurred within 6-24 months. The authors aimed to identify clinical consensus regarding management of intracranial aneurysms displaying persistent filling 6-24 months after flow diversion and to ascertain questions that may drive future investigation.

Methods And Results: Between 2006 and 2020, we identified 2527 individuals with type 1 diabetes, 48 321 individuals with type 2 diabetes and 243 170 individuals without diabetes with first myocardial infarction in national health care registries. Outcomes were trends in all-cause death after 30 and 365 days, cardiovascular death and major adverse cardiovascular events (ie, nonfatal stroke, nonfatal myocardial infarction, cardiovascular death, and heart failure hospitalization).
Introduction: Several studies have addressed technical aspects of endovascular thrombectomy (EVT), but it is not well known how procedural factors contribute to technical success in routine healthcare. The aim was to explore factors associated with technically successful EVT on nationwide scale.
Methods: We did an observational register-based study assessing factors associated with technical success off anterior circulation EVT in Sweden.
