The recovery of palladium from aqueous solutions is important due to its critical role in various industrial applications and the growing demand for sustainable resource management. This study investigates the potential of hybrid materials composed of MgAl layered double hydroxides (LDHs), chitosan, and ionic liquids (methyl trialchil ammonium chloride) for the efficient adsorption of palladium ions from low-concentration aqueous solutions. Comprehensive characterization techniques, including X-ray diffraction (RX), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), and thermogravimetric analysis (TG), were employed to elucidate the structural and compositional properties of the hybrid materials.

In this context, our research explores the development and characterization of electrospun membranes composed of polyether ether ketone (PEEK) and various polyimides (PIs (1-6)), focusing on their application in protective clothing. The combination of phosphorus-containing polyimides and PEEK, along with the electrospinning process, enhances the distinctive properties of both PEEK and polyimides, leading to composite membranes that stand out according to key parameters essential for maintaining physiological balance.

Cellulose acetate is of remarkable scientific interest, becoming more useful when is used in obtaining of the composite materials containing nanoparticles, as result of its improved properties. Thus, cellulose acetate/silica composite films obtained by casting the solutions of cellulose acetate (CA)/tetraethyl orthosilicate (TEOS) in different mixing ratios were analyzed in this paper. The impact of TEOS addition, and implicitly of the silica nanoparticles on the mechanical strength, water vapor sorption properties and antimicrobial activity of the cellulose acetate/silica films were mainly monitored.

Thus, the antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) confers to newly obtained materials characteristics that make them ideal candidates in a wide spectrum of applications. In the present study, the use of hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) in the new formulation, by embedding AgNPs with antibacterial activity, using poly(N-vinylpyrrolidone) (PVP) as a stabilizing agent was investigated.

Variation of ILs was performed with the aim to find the one that brings new properties and improves the functionality and selectivity of PSFQ membranes in ultrafiltration processes. Based on the obtained results of the rheological study, we established the compatibility of compounds and optimal content of the used ILs, namely 3 wt% and 15 wt% Cyphos 101 IL and compositions varying between 3 and 15 wt % Aliquat 336.

In this context, because the polymer processing starts from the solution phase, in the first step, the rheological properties were followed in order to assess and control the structural parameters. The surface chemistry analysis, surface properties, and antimicrobial activity of the obtained materials were investigated in order to understand the relationship between the polymers' structure-surface properties and organization form of materials (fibers and/or films), as important indicators for their future applications.

The physical and chemical characteristics of film/membrane surfaces are totally different from those of the bulk due to the surface segregation of the low surface energy components. Thus, the surfaces of cellulose acetate/silica composite films are analyzed in order to obtain information on the morphology, topography and wettability through atomic force microscopy (AFM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and contact angle investigations.
