Different perceptions and attitudes regarding prenatal testing among service providers and consumers in Israel.

Introduction: The increasing number of prenatal tests for fetal abnormalities calls for a prenatal care policy which will reflect not only medical values, but also the needs and attitudes of the services' consumers.

Objectives: To compare attitudes of prenatal service consumers and providers regarding extent of prenatal testing and to evaluate these attitudes in relation to sociodemographic and professional characteristics.

Methods: Women were interviewed by phone 5-8 weeks postpartum (n = 596) using a structured questionnaire.

Objective: To determine maternal and neonatal complications among dichorionic and monochorionic twins with isolated midtrimester elevated maternal serum human chorionic gonadotropin (MShCG).

Material And Methods: MShCG was determined in 247 women with dichorionic twins and 32 women with monochorionic twins between 16-18 weeks gestation. Among the dichorionic twins 219 patients had MShCG < 2.

A new autosomal recessive congenital contractural syndrome in an Israeli Bedouin kindred.

We describe 23 cases with a syndrome of congenital contractures belonging to a large, inbred Israeli-Bedouin kindred. The phenotype described is similar to the Finnish type lethal congenital contracture syndrome yet differs in the following ways: by some additional craniofacial/ocular findings, by the lack of hydrops, multiple pterygia, and fractures, and by the normal duration of pregnancy. The major unique and previously undescribed clinical feature in our patients is a markedly distended urinary bladder as well as other urinary abnormalities.
