Objective: To study the efficacy and side-effect profile of topical 5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) in the treatment of ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN).

Methods: Retrospective study of 101 eyes of 100 patients treated with 5-FU with one week on and 3 weeks off regimen.

Results: Of the 100 patients (101 eyes), the mean age at diagnosis of OSSN was 49 (median, 52 years; range, 11-87 years).

This study describes the microbiological and histopathological features of patients with COVID-19-associated rhino-orbital mucormycosis (ROM) seen at the L V Prasad Eye Institute between May and August 2021. Diagnosed clinically and radiologically, 24 patients with ROM were included in the study. Deep nasal swabs or endoscopically collected nasal swabs or orbital tissues were submitted for microbiological evaluation and in vitro susceptibility testing by microbroth dilution for natamycin, amphotericin B, caspofungin, posaconazole, ketoconazole, and voriconazole.

Purpose: To evaluate the presenting features, treatment, and outcomes of posterior uveal melanoma (PUM) in Asian Indians based on the 8th edition of American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) classification.

Methods: Retrospective interventional case series of 321 Asian Indian patients with PUM.

Results: Based on AJCC, PUM was classified into categories T1 (n = 36; 11%), T2 (n = 74; 23%), T3 (n = 126; 39%), and T4 (n = 85; 27%).

Penetrating injury of the orbit with a wooden stick is not an uncommon finding in ocular emergencies. A 36-year-old man presented with redness, pain in the left eye following fall from a motorcycle 3 days ago. Trichofolliculoma is a rare benign tumor of the skin, with distinct pilar differentiation and a predilection for the head and neck. To the best of the authors' knowledge, only 10 cases of eyelid trichofolliculoma has been described in the English literature. Moreover, these benign hair follicle lesions have been reported to clinically mimic eyelid malignancy.

Ocular surface squamous neoplasia (OSSN) refers to a spectrum of conjunctival and corneal epithelial tumors including dysplasia, carcinoma in situ, and invasive carcinoma. In this article, we discuss the current perspectives of OSSN associated with HIV infection, focusing mainly on the epidemiology, pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, diagnosis, and treatment of these tumors in patients with HIV. Upsurge in the incidence of OSSN with the HIV pandemic most severely affected sub-Saharan Africa, due to associated risk factors, such as human papilloma virus and solar ultraviolet exposure.
